of Reefton, has been duly elected a member of the Inangahua Local Revenues Board, under the provisions of "The Goldfields Local Revenues Act, 1878," vice Mr. NICOL RAMSAY resigned.

IT is hereby notified for general information that,
in accordance with the provisions of "The Dog Nuisance Act, 1863," the Deputy-Superintendent has directed that a supply of Dog Tickets shall be kept at the residence of WILLIAM GIBBS, District Constable, Motupiko, to be issued to any person applying for the same.

has been elected a member of the Motueka Valley Road Board, in the place of Mr. JAMES CRICHTON, who has resigned.

PROTECTION is hereby granted, under the provisions of the "Goldfields Act, 1866," to FREDERICK BRANDT, for one year from the 12th day of July, 1876, for a Punt Ferry across the Inangahua River, about five miles from the junction of the Rivers Buller and Inangahua, at the crossing of the new road to Reefton, subject to the following conditions, viz.:—

That a substantial Punt, capable of carrying at least twelve tons, shall be maintained in good working order during the term of protection.

That a competent ferryman shall always be in attendance, and the ferry shall be at all times conducted to the satisfaction of the Warden of the District.

The Warden of the District may, on being satisfied that the ferry is not conducted in an efficient manner, and in accordance with these conditions, suspend the operation of this protection until the matter of complaint be removed, and, if the matter of complaint be not removed within a reasonable time, the Superintendent shall have power to cancel this protection.

The Government to have the option, at any time during the term of protection, of purchasing the punt and works connected therewith at a valuation, without any consideration for loss of good will.

In the event of this protection being cancelled under the provision of clause 3 hereof, the said FREDERICK BRANDT, or his assigns, shall not be entitled to any payment or compensation excepting for the actual value of the punt, and the Superintendent shall have power to take immediate possession of the punt and works connected therewith.

The tolls to be charged for the use of the punt shall not exceed the following, viz.:—

| Empty Dray, with not exceeding two horses | 1 6 |
| Empty four-wheeled waggon, with not exceeding four horses | 3 0 |
| Goods per ton, not on Dray | 1 6 |
| Government Officers, including police, road overseers, postmen, and laborers, when on duty | Free. |
| Horses required by any of the above-mentioned Government officers or persons | Free. |

This protection shall extend along the river for a distance of two miles—that is to say, one mile each side of the site of the punt.

All regulations which may at any time be brought into force under section 13 of "The Goldfields Act, 1866," shall be deemed as this protection as if it had been granted under the same.

This protection shall not be transferred without the sanction of the Superintendent.
