  1. The Ferry to be worked by a boat.

  2. The amount of subsidy to be £50 per annum.
    3, 4, and 5. Same as in No. 2.

  3. Schedule of charges :-

IX.—COOK’S RIVER.

JOHN HUNTER.

  1. The subsidy to be £75 per annum.
    Other terms the same as in No. 9.

X.—TEREMAKAU (LOWER FERRY).

CHARLES B. MONTAGUE.

  1. The ferry to be worked by a boat.

  2. The amount of subsidy to be £25 per annum.
    3, 4, and 5. The same as in No. 2.

  3. Schedule of charges :-

  4. Same as in No. 2.

XI.—TOTARA FERRY.

MOLE AND CASHMAN.

  1. The punts, gear, and approaches to be maintained in good and serviceable condition, subject to the approval of the County Engineer.

  2. Schedule of charges:-

    Passengers, each ... 1 0
    Horse and rider ... 2 0
    Dray or waggon, one horse ... 2 6
    Each additional horse ... 0 9
    Coach or conveyance carrying passengers, one horse ... 2 6
    Each additional horse ... 0 6
    Private vehicle, one horse ... 2 6
    Each additional horse ... 1 0
    Pack horses, each ... 1 6
    Horses and cattle driven, each ... 0 9
    Sheep, goats, and pigs, each ... 0 1½
    Government Officers, on duty, free.

XII.—TEREMAKAU AND HOHONU FERRY.

CHEFFINGS AND WHITTEN.

  1. The Punt, gear, and approaches to be maintained in good and serviceable condition subject to the approval of the County Engineer.

  2. The charges not to exceed the following rates:-

    s. d.
    For foot passengers, each ... 0 6
    For horses, with or without rider or pack, each ... 1 6
    For vehicle drawn by one horse (empty) ... 2 0
    For each additional horse ... 1 0
    For dray loads, at per 100 lbs ... 0 3
    For sheep, pigs, and goats, each ... 0 3
    For cattle by punt, each ... 1 0
    For cattle swimming ... 0 6

  3. All Government Officers travelling on public service, and horses or vehicles used by them to be conveyed free of charge.

Double the charges above mentioned may be made between the hours of 10 o’clock, p.m., and 6 o’clock, a.m.

N.B.—All timber within the limits of half a mile on either side of the Punt, and within one chain from the river’s edge, is to be left standing.

XIII.—THREE MILE CREEK, OKARITO.

WILLIAM HENRY DIXON.

  1. Protection granted for half-a-mile each side of the ferry except where the creek is fordable.

  2. Occupation authorised of available land immediately adjacent to the ferry.

  3. Term of protection—one year, with option of renewal; the right being reserved to the Okarito Road Board to erect a bridge at any time, and, in the event of such a work being undertaken by the Road Board, the protection to cease.

  4. Amount of subsidy, £40 per annum.

  5. The following charges will be authorised, namely:-

    s. d.
    For a horse, with or without rider or pack ... 2 6
    For passengers, each ... 1 0
    For goods, per cwt. ... 1 9
    Government Officers, on duty, to be conveyed free.

  6. In the event of the ferry not being kept and maintained to the satisfaction of the Warden of the District, the protection may be cancelled by the Chairman of the County Council.
