REGULATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA MADE UNDER SCHEDULE XIII., IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 192 OF “THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1867.”

The Council of the Borough of Hokitika make the following Regulations, under the fourth subdivision of the tenth part of schedule thirteen: That is to say—

PEDLARS AND HAWKERS.

  1. Every pedlar and hawker trading within the Borough of Hokitika shall pay to the borough fund, for their licenses, and for the registration of their names, the sum of twenty shillings.

  2. If any person trading as, or carries on, business within any borough to which this subdivision shall apply, as a pedlar or hawker, without having first obtained a license, he shall forfeit and pay on conviction for every such offence any sum not exceeding five pounds; and every person trading or carrying on such business as aforesaid, within any such borough, shall be deemed and taken to be unlicensed, unless he shall prove to the contrary by the production of his license, or otherwise.

  3. Every person licensed to trade or carry on business as a pedlar or hawker within any borough to which this subdivision shall apply, who shall not comply with any regulation made by the Council of the Borough, under the power given in this subdivision for the regulation of the conduct of pedlars and hawkers, he shall forfeit and pay on conviction for every such offence any sum not exceeding forty shillings.


REGULATION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GREYMOUTH, MADE UNDER SECTION II. OF PART 3 OF THE THIRTEENTH SCHEDULE OF “THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1867.”

The Council of the Borough of Greymouth make the following regulation: That is to say—

That the captain, masters, or other person in command of every ship, steamer, or other vessel shall, upon demand by the Collector of Wharfage, Rates, or other officer appointed by the Council for that purpose, or within twenty-four hours after such demand, and before discharging any part of the cargo contained or carried in such ship, steamer, or other vessel as aforesaid, deliver to such Collector or other officer aforesaid a full, true, and complete list or statement of all and singular the cargo, goods, wares, merchandise and effects carried or conveyed by him, and intended to be landed or discharged at the port of Greymouth aforesaid; such statement containing therein the names of each and every consignee, and the quantity, contents, marks, measurements, or weight and numbers of each bale, case, parcel, package, or other cargo, goods, wares, or merchandise carried or conveyed, or intended to be landed or discharged as aforesaid, as may be reasonably required by such collector or officer for determining the amount of wharfage rates which are payable in respect of such case.
