NOTICE is hereby given that, in confor-
mity with "The Regulations under
which Tramway Companies may receive
Protection from Government," passed by the
County Council of the County of Westland,
on the 24th day of February, 1869, I hereby
make application for protection for the Hoki-
tika and Hau Hau Tramway Company’s
Line, from Hokitika to the Hau Hau; and
all persons who may object to protection
being granted for said line must lodge such
objections, in writing, at the County Chair-
man’s Office within twenty-one days from
this date.

NOTICE is hereby given that an appli-
cation has this day been lodged in this
office by Nicholas Walsh and Company, for
protection to a line of tramway from the
town of Ross to the southern end of Lake
Mahinapua.

All persons who may have any objections
to prefer to the protection being granted, must
send in such objections in writing, addressed
to the Chairman of the County Council,
within twenty-one days from the date hereof.

I, the undersigned, Henry Mace, hereby
make application to register "The
Kanieri Lake Water-Race Company, Regis-
tered," under the provisions of "The Mining
Companies Limited Liability Act, 1865,"
and I do solemnly and sincerely declare that
the following statement is, to the best of my
belief and knowledge, true in every particu-
lar, namely:—

  1. The name and style of the Company is
    THE KANIERI LAKE WATER-RACE COM-
    PANY, REGISTERED.

  2. The place of intended operations is in
    the mining district of Kanieri, Westland.

  3. The nominal capital of the Company is
    sixteen thousand five hundred pounds, in five
    thousand five hundred shares, of three pounds
    each, of which six hundred shares, having
    two pounds paid up on each, are reserved as
    an equivalent for expenses already incurred,
    to the shareholders who incurred the ex-
    penses.

  4. The amount already paid up is fourteen
    hundred and twenty-five pounds, inclusive
    of twelve hundred pounds, referred to in
    Clause 3.

  5. The name of the Manager is HENRY
    MACE.

  6. The office of the Company is at the
    office of Messrs. Mace and Dixon, Hamilton
    Street, Hokitika.

  7. The names and several residences of the
    shareholders, and the number of shares held
    by each, at this date, are as follows:—
