THE following Regulations of the Council of the Borough of Hokitika has been forwarded to the Chairman of the County Council, who directs it to be notified that he does not dissent from them. They are published for general information under the 191st clause of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."

REGULATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF
THE BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA, MADE
UNDER SCHEDULE XIII., IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 192 OF "THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1867."

The Council of the Borough of Hokitika made the following Regulations under the first subdivision of the fifth part of Schedule thirteen: That is to say—

Regulation, etc., of Buildings.

First. It shall not be lawful to use any combustible materials in the construction, alteration, repair, or renewal of chimneys, flues, smoke vents, or stove pipes.

Second. Every chimney to be hereafter constructed shall have a hearth not less than fourteen inches in width extending along the whole front of the fireplace; and such hearth shall not be constructed of any combustible material, nor be formed by placing any metal plate upon any combustible material.

Third. All chimneys, stove pipes, and vents shall be placed at a no less distance than nine inches from any timber or other combustible material.

Fourth. From and after the date of these Regulations coming into force, all chimneys, stove pipes, and flues shall be carried to a height of not less than two feet above the ridge of any building.

REGULATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA, MADE UNDER SCHEDULE XIII., IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 192 OF "THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1867."

The Council of the Borough of Hokitika make the following Regulations, under the third sub-division of the tenth part of Schedule 13: That is to say—

Regulations for Boats and Boatmen.

All licences shall be made payable from the 1st day of July, and shall continue payable on each succeeding 1st day of July, and the sum payable for each Boatman’s licence shall be Twenty Shillings for the year ending the thirtieth day of June.

Passed by the Council of the Borough of Hokitika, this sixteenth day of July, 1869.

In pursuance of the powers vested in me, and in conformity with clause 331 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," I hereby appoint

Duncan Macfarlane, Esq.,
Thomas Broham, Esq.,
William Evans, Esq., and
William Forsyth, Esq.,

to be Fire Inspectors for the Borough of Hokitika, and to exercise all the powers contained in clause 332 of the said Act.

Given under my hand, at Hokitika, this twentieth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.
