Notices relating to Wanganui District
Training number of days for this District.
By His Excellency Sir George Grey, K.C.B., Commanding Her Majesty’s Forces in New Zealand, &c., &c., and over Her Majesty’s Possessions in the Southern Pacific, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

Militia Act Amendment Act.
It is provided by the Militia Act Amendment Act, 1862, that the number of days and hours comprising one training of the Militia for any District shall be fixed for training and exercise by the Governor from time to time as he shall think fit.
Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, under the authority conferred upon me by the said recited Act, do hereby fix the number of days and hours during which that portion of the Militia of the Wanganui District which may be called out for training and exercise shall be trained and exercised at any one time at twenty-four hours, spread over a period of three days between the first day of May and the last day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
Given under my hand at Government House, Auckland, this twenty-third day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

Notices relating to Militia Districts
Orders for calling out Militia Districts.
W.HERBERT, Colonel, Militia Staff Officer.
1863. The Governor is empowered to call out the whole or any part of any Regiment, Battalion, Corps, or Company of Militia in any District to be trained and exercised as he shall think fit. And it appears to me expedient to call out for training and exercise one half of the Militia of the District of Wanganui.
Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Officer Administering the Government of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the authority so vested in me, do hereby direct and command that one-half of the Militia of the District of Wanganui shall be called out for training and exercise for a period of three days, to commence on Thursday the 9th day of July instant.

Whereas by the “Militia Act Amendment Act, 1862,” the Governor is empowered from time to time to call out the whole or any part or number of any Regiment, Battalion, Corps, or Company of Militia in any District to be trained and exercised at such times and for such periods as he shall think fit. And it appears to me expedient to call out for training and exercise one-half of the Militia of the District of Wairarapa.
Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the authority so vested in me, do hereby direct and command that one-half of the Militia of the District of Wairarapa shall be called out for training and exercise for a period of three days, commencing on the 10th day of July instant, as follows:
- Such portion shall assemble at Masterton.
- Such portion shall be divided into three classes.
