And, Whereas it is deemed requisite to call out for training, and exercise certain portions of the Militia of the Province of Wellington:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and execution of the powers and authority vested in me by the said recited Acts, I do hereby require all such officers of the Militia of the Wellington District, which may be desirous of having their corps assembled, to give notice thereof to the Officer commanding the Militia of the said District, and that such corps shall be trained and exercised at:

Two hours after sun-rise, on Tuesday, the 19th day of August next, at the Barracks, Wellington.

The Undermentioned Officers of the several Companies of the Wellington Regiment of Militia:

  • Captains
  • Subalterns
  • Serjeants
  • Corporals
  • Drummers

And so forth, under my hand, at the Government House, at Auckland, this fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

By His Excellency’s Proclamation

W. Gisborne, Colonel Commanding the Forces of the North Island.

W. H. Harrison, Major, Wellington Regiment of Militia

Whereas by the “Militia Acts Amendment Act, 1862,” the Governor is empowered from time to time to call out for training, exercise, and inspection, the whole or any number of any Regiment or Corps of Militia of any District, and to appoint the time, place, and number of days for such training.

Now, therefore, I, the Governor, do hereby call out for training and exercise the Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Privates of the several Companies of the Wellington Regiment of Militia, for the period of three days, to be trained and exercised at the Barracks, Wellington, on Tuesday, the 19th day of August, 1863, at ten o’clock in the forenoon.

And I do hereby command all Officers and Soldiers of the said Regiment so to obey the orders of the Officer commanding the said District.

Given under my hand, at the Government House, at Auckland, this fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

To the Officer Commanding the Forces in the Province of New Munster:

You are hereby required forthwith to cause the undermentioned Regiment of Militia, stationed at Wellington, to be forthwith trained and exercised for three days.

The names so drawn are to be written in a list, which list is to be forwarded to the Officer Commanding the Forces in New Ulster.

Dated this fifteenth day of June, in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

Whereas the following pieces of paper of a uniform size, with the annexed list, which list is to be placed in a box to be provided for that purpose, and transmitted to the Officer Commanding in the Province of a June drawing of pieces of paper, and the names of persons drawn are to continue until the full number of serviceable Militiamen is obtained.

The pieces of paper are to be of a size, and the names of the Militiamen who are to be placed in the box.

The Wellington Regiment of Militia is hereby called out for training and exercise for three days, commencing on Tuesday, the 19th day of August, 1863, at Ten o’clock in the forenoon at the Barracks, Wellington.
