THE GOVERNOR'S DELEGATION TO THE SUPERINTENDENT
By His Excellency Sir George Grey,
Knight Commander of the Most
Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.,
I do hereby appoint the Honorable
Henry Sewell, Esq., to be my Deputy for the
purpose of carrying into effect the provisions of the Militia Act Amendment Act,
1858, within the Province of New Munster, to do all such acts, matters and things as
shall be lawful for the Governor or such person as he shall appoint in that behalf to
do under the whole or any part of the said Act, and to exercise the powers and
authority thereby vested in the Governor as aforesaid.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand,
at Government House, Auckland, this 23rd day of June, 1858.

The Governor's Delegation to the Superintendent

Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.,
Whereas it is provided by the
Militia Acts Amendment Act,
1858, that it shall be lawful for the Governor of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, from time to time to appoint such person as he shall think fit to be
Deputy for that purpose from time to time within any part of the said Colony, to do
all such acts, matters and things as shall be lawful for the Governor to do under the
whole or any part of the said Acts.
Now therefore I, the Governor aforesaid,
do hereby appoint Isaac Earl Featherston, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of
Wellington, to be my Deputy within the said District of Wairarapa, from time to time to do all
such acts, matters and things as shall be lawful for me to do under the whole or any
part of the said Acts and to exercise subject nevertheless to the control, direction,
and restrictions of the laws in force for the regulation of the Militia.
Given under my hand, at Government House,
Auckland, this sixth day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and fifty-eight.

For Regulating the Militia
By His Excellency Sir George Grey,
Knight Commander of the Most
Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.,
Whereas by the Militia Acts it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Governor, from
time to time, to order out for actual service such portion of the Militia force as may be
required, and to make such rules and regulations as shall be necessary for the purpose:
Now, therefore, I do hereby order and direct that such portion of the Militia force of this
Province as may be required be drawn out for actual service, and do further order and
direct that the rules and regulations hereinafter set forth shall be observed in calling
out the same...
