of the Makahakaha stream, towards the north by the
Makahakaha stream, and towards the east and north-east by a range running parallel to the Aorangi range.
Excepting always a block of 1,500 acres at Turanga-
nui to be granted to the chief Raniera, a block of one
thousand acres at Puhangina to be granted to the chief
Te Manihera, and certain other small reserves for the
natives to be hereafter particularly defined.

  1. West side of Ruamahanga
    Bounded towards the south by the sea coast from
    Orongorongo to the entrance of the Wairarapa Lake,
    thence by the lake to the junction of the Tauweranikau
    river, thence by a line running about north-east to the
    eastern side of the forest known as Morrison’s bush,
    thence along the eastern side of that bush to Waiaunga-
    hou, thence through the bush to Te Takapau, thence
    by a line running about north to the Waiohine river,
    thence up that river about two miles, thence by a line
    running north-easterly to the Waingawa river, thence
    across that river through Kohangawareware to the
    Waipawa river, thence after including a small block at
    Makara to the Ruamahanga river, and thence up that
    river into the Tararua range.
    Excepting always a reserve of one hundred acres for
    the chief Rawiri Pihirau at Tawarenikau, and certain
    other reserves at Kaikokiri and elsewhere north of the
    Waingawa river to be hereafter particularly defined.
    Excepting also a Public Reserve of about (10,000)
    ten thousand acres at the point where the North Road
    enters the Wairarapa Plain, for the site of a township
    and suburban land, and also two blocks respectively
    of about 10,000 and 15,000 acres, at Kuratawiti and Ko-
    hangawareware reserved for Small Farm Settlements.

  2. Head of the Valley
    Bounded on the south-west by the Ruamahanga river
    at the confluence of the Owanga stream, thence north-
    easterly across Rangitumau range to Ahiaruhi, thence
    northerly to Maungaorongo, thence west to the Maka-
    kahi river, and thence by that river into the Tararua
    range.

  3. Cape Palliser and East Coast

  4. The block at Cape Palliser known as Barton’s
    block, bounded towards the south-east by the sea-coast,
    towards the east by Opaowe river, and towards the west
    by a remarkable ridge known as Te Mataoperu; run-
    ning inland about twelve miles.

  5. The tract of country bounded by the sea coast
    towards the east and running inland about 20 miles,
    towards the south by Awa river, and towards the north-
    east by Te Kohumotu, comprising the coast line between
    the block on the south known as Riddiford’s run, and
    Tautane on the north.
    Excepting always certain Native Reserves along the
    coast to be hereafter particularly defined; and a travel
    reserve along the coast throughout the distance from
    ten to twenty chains wide, as the same may be deter-
    mined.

  6. Ahuriri
    Bounded towards the south by the purchased land
    known as Hapuka’s block, towards the west by the
    Tukituki river, towards the east by the Maraitotara
    river, and towards the north by a line running between
    the said rivers.

NOTICE is hereby given, that until the
10th day of March next, the Provincial
Treasurer will receive applications for Deben-
tures, to be issued to the amount of £10,000,
by his Honor the Superintendent on the fol-
lowing terms, viz.:—

  1. The Debentures will be a first charge on
    the Provincial Revenue.

  2. They will be issued for sums of £25, £50,
    and £100, respectively.

  3. They will be redeemable by the Govern-
    ment on one year’s notice.

  4. The Interest will be at the rate of £6 per
    centum per annum, payable half-yearly.
