NOTICE.
Superintendent’s Office,
Wellington, January 31, 1854.
THE SUPERINTENDENT of the Province of Wellington, do hereby DECLARE and NOTIFY, that the Lands described in the annexed Schedule, and which have recently been acquired from the Native chiefs, will be opened for public selection under the Regulations of 10th March, 1853, on and after the first day of March next, subject to the following further regulations and reservations:—

Occupiers of Runs under arrangements existing with the Natives previous to the purchase by Government, will on that day have a right of pre-emption to an amount not exceeding 640 acres, on the same conditions as are mentioned in the notice of 6th October, 1853, published in the Government Gazette of the Province of Wellington of 10th October, 1853.

A right of Road will be reserved through every selection.

Applications made on the day named by two or more persons for the same piece of land (except as regards the pre-emptive right hereinbefore referred to) will be considered simultaneous applications, and the land will be put up to public auction on such day as shall be hereafter notified.

Applications for all such lands as are described in the annexed Schedule, and lie to the south of Cape Turnagain, are to be made to the Commissioner at Wellington; and for such lands as lie to the north of Cape Turnagain to the Commissioner at Ahuriri; but for the convenience of purchasers, applications and payments for land north of Cape Turnagain may also be made to the Commissioner at Wellington.

It is to be understood that the schedule hereto annexed contains such general description only of the lands acquired from the natives as the Government is now in possession of, and the Government reserves to itself the right of altering or correcting such description as may hereafter be found necessary; and further, reserves the right of making such public reserves as may be found necessary in any part of the districts now notified for selection.

Sketch Plans of the lands hereby opened may be seen at the Crown Land Office in Wellington on and after the 8th day of February next.
