cified in the Schedules to this Ordinance, certain lines of public roads particularised in the same Schedules, and the compensation payable in Government scrip to the owners and occupiers of the lands required for the construction of such roads hath been fixed in the manner provided by the said Ordinance at the sums set opposite the respective names of such owners and occupiers in the said Schedules; but such scrip hath not been issued, and doubts exist whether the same can now legally be issued by the Governor of the colony. And whereas it is expedient that the Superintendent of the Province should be authorised to cause the aforesaid lines of road to be constructed and to issue to the aforesaid owners and occupiers the amount of Government scrip fixed for their respective compensation as aforesaid. And whereas the said lines of road have been delineated on a map constructed for that purpose and deposited in the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands at New Plymouth in which map the said lines of roads are coloured pink:
Be it therefore enacted by the Superintendent of the Province of New Plymouth, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, as follows—

It shall be lawful for the Superintendent to cause a road to be constructed upon and across each of the sections specified or referred to in the Schedules to this Ordinance in the line indicated for that purpose in the said map in manner aforesaid, and to cause to be executed upon the said sections all necessary works for that purpose.

The said Roads shall be public Roads and the fee simple of the soil thereof, free from all incumbrances, shall forthwith vest in the Superintendent and devolve upon his successors in office in like manner as if the same had been duly granted to him by the Governor as a Public Reserve under the provisions of the Public Reserves Act 1854.

The Superintendent shall forthwith issue to the several persons named in the said Schedules respectively Scrip to the amount set opposite their respective names in the same Schedules, which shall be available in the purchase of the Waste Lands of the Crown within the Province in like manner and on the same terms and conditions as other Government Scrip issued in respect of the settlement of New Plymouth is now by law available for such purpose.
