NOTICE.

THE Provincial Government Offices in Dunedin will be closed from One o'clock on Wednesday, the 27th October, 1875, on the occasion of His Honor the Superintendent's return from Wellington.

TRIAL OF DRAINAGE PLOUGHS.

THE competition will be held at Springfield, Tokomairiro, on Thursday, the 28th October, 1875, commencing at 10 a.m.

BUTCHERS.

Tenders to supply the Dunedin Hospital from acceptance of tender to 31st December next, will be received at the Government Offices until noon of Friday, 29th October, 1875. The Government will not be bound to accept any tender.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

A LARGE and valuable assortment of Public Library Books will be ready for distribution shortly. A list of the books is in course of preparation. As this list will exhaust the supply from Britain for the present, Library Committees and Settlers in localities not yet provided with a Public Library, are advised to avail themselves of this opportunity of obtaining the advantages offered by the Provincial Government Public Library Scheme.

Printed Catalogues of books, and other information, will be furnished on application.

A SCHOOLMASTER is required for the newly established School at Fortrose. Salary: £60, school fees, residence, and ten acres glebe. Thirty pupils guaranteed. Preference will be given to a married man, whose wife, or himself, would undertake to instruct children whose parents may desire it in vocal and instrumental music; for which extra remuneration will be given. Duties to commence at the expiration of the Christmas vacation.

TEACHER wanted for the newly established School at Fairfax. Salary: £75, and School Fees, less ten cent. The probable number of pupils will be from 60 to 70. A four-roomed residence, and five acres of glebe, fenced and in grass.

Duties to commence on 1st January, 1876.

Applications, with testimonials, will be received until the 1st December.

TENDERS wanted for the erection of School Buildings at Taiarea Heads. Plans and specifications to be seen at the Education Office, where tenders will be received up till 4 p.m. on Monday, the 1st November.

A SPECIAL MEETING of the Portobello Road Board will be held on Saturday, the 13th day of November, at 12 o'clock, to hear objections to the General Rate levied on the 2nd of October, for the year ending June 1876.

NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.

CONTRACTORS are invited to tender to fill in an old creek, at section 44, North-East Valley, and to erect an embankment for shutting out the stream. The work will be pointed out to contractors on Wednesday, the 10th day of November, at 9 a.m.. Tenders can be left at the North-East Valley Schoolhouse till 2 p.m. on Saturday, the 13th day of November, and the lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted by the Board.

KURI BUSH ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE.—Tenders will be received by the undersigned until noon of 8th November, 1875, for certain works at Blair's Gate and Black Pinch. Intending tenderers to meet at Blair's Gate at noon on Saturday, 6th November, when the work will be pointed out to them.

Specifications to be seen at the Schoolhouse, Otakia.

The Board does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

RATEPAYERS are requested to take notice that the undersigned will attend at the Brighton Post Office, from 10 a.m. till 12 noon; and at the Schoolhouse, Saddle Hill, from 2 to 4 p.m., on Friday, 12th November, 1875, to receive the Highway Rate, 1875-6.

NOTICE.

TAIERI ROAD BOARD.

THE Taieri Road Board intend at their meeting on Saturday, 6th November, 1875, to make a general rate of Sixpence (6d.) in the £ on the full net annual value of rateable property within the District, for the year ending 30th June, 1876.

The rate book, containing the several valuations of property in the District, can be seen at the Clerk's office, Mosgiel, until 12 o'clock noon on 6th November, 1875, where objections must be lodged not later than said hour and date.
