✨ Road District Bye Laws and Local Government Notices
BYE LAWS of the Caversham Road District, duly made in pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in "The Otago Roads Ordinance 1871," "The Otago Roads Ordinance Amendment Ordinance 1872," "The Otago Roads Ordinance 1871 Amendment Ordinance 1874," "The Highway Boards Empowering Act 1871," and "The Highway Boards Empowering Act 1872," and passed at a meeting of the Caversham Road Board held in the Caversham Road District on the fourth day of February, 1875," intituled "Bye Laws to provide for the order and good government of the Caversham Road District."

It shall not be lawful for any person to wheel, lead, drive or ride in any dray, cart, carriage, or barrow, or to ride on horseback upon, or to lead or drive any horse or cattle across or along any footpath formed alongside of any street line, or District Road, and any person committing an offence against this bye-law shall, on conviction, forfeit a sum not exceeding five pounds.

It shall not be lawful for any person to draw or trail any sledge, timber, or other material, upon or along any formed street line or District Road, and any person committing an offence against this bye-law shall, on conviction, forfeit a sum not exceeding five pounds.

Every person who throws any glass, dirt, filth, manure, ashes, or rubbish, or allows any night soil or other offensive matter to be spilt or otherwise cast upon any street line or District Road or allows to run from any house or premises any foul or sewerage water on to any street line or District Road shall, on conviction, forfeit a sum not exceeding five pounds.

Every person who throws or lays any building or other materials or constructs or erects any scaffolding or fence upon any street line or district road, save under permission of the Road Board in writing first obtained shall on conviction forfeit a sum not exceeding twenty pounds.

If any person shall place any house building or fence or any part thereof upon any portion of any street line or District road, he shall forfeit a sum not exceeding ten pounds, and a further sum not exceeding five pounds, for every day while the same shall so continue.

If any person shall obstruct any street line or District road, whether by allowing any vehicle to remain on such street line or District road, or by placing goods thereon or otherwise, shall, on conviction forfeit a sum not exceeding ten pounds.

If any horses or cattle be found on any street line or District road without any person having the charge thereof, or if turned out for grazing purposes, although in charge of any person the Board shall have power to impound such, and in addition to all poundage charges, the owners of such horses or cattle shall, on conviction be liable to a penalty not exceeding five shillings per head, which sum shall be collected by the poundkeeper and paid over by him to the Road Board.

No drove cattle shall be driven on any street line or District road without having an attendant going before such drove cattle and without being kept in a compact body, and any person offending against this section shall, on conviction forfeit a sum not exceeding twenty pounds, and in the interpretation of this Bye Law the term drove cattle shall be taken to mean all cattle being driven in or through the Road District to or from Market or Slaughter-yard.

WAHIOLA ROAD DISTRICT.
In pursuance of a Proclamation of His Honor, the Superintendent duly published in the Provincial Government Gazette, notice is hereby given that Wednesday the 10th day of March 1875, has been appointed for holding the election of members of the Waihola Road Board and that the nomination of members for the said Board shall be taken at:
- Taieri Beach subdivision, at the Taieri Beach school-house before Mr. G. B. Clarke.
- Glenavon subdivision at the Waihola Gorge school-house before Mr. Alexander Ayson.
- Waihola, East subdivision at the Waihola school-house before Mr. R. R. Jones.

CLYDE CORPORATION.
BYE-LAW No. 1.
BYE-LAW of the Council of the Town of Clyde made under the provisions of Part XIII. of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."
In pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in sect. 181, part XIII. of the "Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," the Council of the Town of Clyde ordain as follows, that is to say:—

The whole of the subdivisions of the first, second, fifth, seventh, eighth, and eleventh parts, and subdivision 1 of the fourth part, the third and fourth subdivisions of the ninth part, the sixty-first, seventy-first, and seventy-second provisions of the second subdivision, and the eighty-eighth, eighty-ninth, and ninetieth provisions of the fourth subdivision of the tenth part of the thirteenth schedule to the said Act, are hereby adopted in and for the said Town of Clyde, and for and on behalf of the Corporation of the said Town of Clyde.

All and every the bye-laws heretofore made by the Council of the said Town of Clyde, or now existing, are hereby repealed.
Passed by the said Council this thirteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.
