For attendance at the different schools receiving aid from the Board, viz.:

For Pupils in the 1st or lowest standard, 6s. per quarter.
Do. 2nd standard, 7s. 6d. ,,
Do. 3rd do. 9s. ,,
Do. 4th do. 10s. 6d. ,,
Do. 5th and 6th standard 12s. ,,

School Committees are enjoined to give effect to this Resolution forthwith, as regards the minimum rates thus fixed, though they are at liberty to charge higher rates if in their opinion the circumstances of the School and district warrant the levying of such higher rates.

BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL, DUNEDIN.

The School will be re-opened on the 2nd February, 1875. Mr. D. Petrie, M.A., will conduct the Classical Department until the Rector’s arrival in March next. The following are the other Masters of the School:—Mathematics—D. Brent, M.A.; English—Alex. Wilson, M.A.; Second Master and Teacher of Science—G. M. Thomson; Commercial Master—J. Gow; French—E. Demontalk, B.A.; Drawing—D. C. Hutton; Drill—Sergeant Stevens.

The School will be thoroughly re-organised, and divided into a Lower and an Upper Department. The Upper Department will have a Classical and a Modern Side.

Boys not under nine years, or thereabouts, will be admitted into the Lower School without examination as to scholarship. Candidates for admission to the Upper School must pass an examination in Reading, Writing from Dictation, English Grammar, Arithmetic, Geography, and the Rudiments of Latin. Boys who do not wish to take Latin must pass either in Elementary Mathematics, or French.

A Prospectus, containing full information may be obtained on application.

TEACHER WANTED for the Lake Waipori School. Salary: Government Subsidy and School Fees. Good four-roomed residence, well stocked garden, &c. Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged with the Chairman, on or before 1st February, 1875.

TEACHERS WANTED for Forbury District School, to commence duties not later than 1st March next. Salaries per annum—Master, £140; Mistress, £75—no residences—with 75 per cent Fees from each department. Large new School buildings, a rapidly increasing population, and the advantages conferred by close proximity to the city, render this an extra eligible opening for qualified teachers.

Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged with the Chairman of the School Committee before 4th February next.

Forbury, 11th January, 1875.

WANTED, for the Kaikorai District School, a Second Master. Salary: Government allowance, £75 per annum, and one-fifth School fees, expected to be not less than £60. Applications, with testimonials, to be left with Mr. A. H. Ross, Optician, Princes-street, Dunedin, until Monday, February 8th, 1875.

NORTH TAIERI ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE.

The North Taieri Road Board intend to levy a General Rate of One Shilling in the £ on all rateable property within the District for the year 1874—75.

The Rate Book lies for inspection at the Schoolhouse, Mosgiel, for 30 days from date. Objection, if any, must be lodged with the Clerk, in writing, not later than the 30th day of January, 1875.

A special meeting of the Board will be held on the first Monday in February, at 6 p.m., to hear objections, if any.
