MASONIC HALL COMPANY LIMITED

(IN LIQUIDATION).

The following Resolution was passed at a meeting of the Shareholders, held in the Masonic Hall, on Friday, 1st May, 1874:—

"Resolved, that in the opinion of this meeting, the affairs of the Dunedin Masonic Hall Company Limited have been fairly and satisfactorily wound up."

TREES.

The list of applicants for Trees has been handed to the Gardener of the Botanical Gardens, Dunedin, with instructions to satisfy the applicants in the best way he can. As the quantity of Trees applied for far exceeds the number to be disposed of by the Government, applicants or their agents will therefore please apply to the Gardener aforesaid.

POLICE HORSE "PUNCH" LOST.

STRAYED, between the 26th and 30th ultimo, from the paddock of Mr. Tomlinson, Maclaggan street, Dunedin, Police horse "Punch," a heavy draught grey gelding, aged, 16 hands high, branded OC on near shoulder, old collar-marks on shoulder, in good condition.

INCENDIARISM.

Maliciously Setting Fire to 175 bags of Wheat and Stack of Straw.

£50 REWARD

And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.

WHEREAS, on the night of the 2nd instant, 175 bags wheat and a stack of straw, situate at the foot of the Horse Range near Palmerston, the property of William Jack, were destroyed by fire. And whereas at an inquest held on the 9th inst. at the Palmerston Hotel, Palmerston, by J. W. Murdoch, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict:— "That the fire was caused by some person or persons at present unknown." Notice is hereby given that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.\n

Maliciously Setting Fire to Three Stacks of Wheat.

£160 REWARD

And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.

WHEREAS between 6 p.m. on the 6th, and 8 a.m. on the 7th instant, three stacks of wheat, containing about 1,000 to 2,000 bushels, situate at Waireka, in the Oamaru district, the property of Messrs. Gifford and Clowes, were destroyed by fire: And whereas it is believed that the said fire was wilfully caused: Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £100 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

WHEREAS on the night of the 6th inst., a stack of wheat, situate near the Kakanui Township, the property of Thos. Everett, which was insured in the New Zealand National Insurance Company for £80, was destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest, held on the 16th instant by T. W. Parker, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict:— "That the fire took place under suspicious circumstances and was caused by some person or persons to the jury unknown, and that the stack was only of the value of £30." Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

£200 Reward

And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.

WHEREAS it has been represented to the Provincial Government of Otago that, on the 2nd instant, four stacks of wheat, situate at Lake Hayes, the property of Thomas McIntyre, value £200; that, on the 12th instant, three stacks of wheat, situate at Arrow-Junction, the property of Robert Pritchard, value £600; that, on the 18th instant, three stacks of wheat, situate at Arrow-Junction, the property of James Whelan, value £400; and that on the 24th instant, four stacks of wheat, the property of William Scouler, value £300, all situate in the Arrow District, were destroyed by fire: And whereas the said fires are believed to have been the work of incendiaries: Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £200 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by

WHEREAS on the morning of the 2nd instant, four stacks of wheat, situate at Lake Hayes, Arrow District, the property of Thomas McIntyre, value £200, were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held on the 8th instant, at the residence of Mr. Paterson, Lake Hayes, by W. Beetham, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict:— "That the wheat was maliciously burned by some person or persons at present unknown." Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.
