LINDBURST DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.
By virtue of the thirty-third section of "The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," and of "The Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871," directs that the proposed road extension, as hereinafter stated, shall be executed according to plans and specifications.

THE Lindhurst District Road Board having duly notified the intention of opening up a new road in the Waimumu Subdivision, passing through sections 4 and 43, the property of the N. Z. and A. Land Company, and section 3, the property of Mr. Hugh Cameron, and there being no objections to the proposed new road, and the owners and occupiers of the sections aforesaid having assented thereto, do hereby, under and by virtue of "The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," and "The Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871," direct that the proposed new line of road, as hereinafter described, be executed according to plans and specifications.

NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.
NOTICE.—A Meeting of Ratepayers will be held, to nominate Candidates for Election, as under:—
Harlington Subdivision: At Sawyers’ Bay School house, on Tuesday, the 2nd day of June, at 12 noon.
John Arrowman, Returning Officer.
Signal Hill Subdivision: At N. E. Valley School house, on Monday, the 1st day of June, at 12 noon.
Francis Smith, Returning Officer.
Pine Hill Subdivision: At Cattle Market Hotel, N. E. Valley, on Wednesday, the 3rd day of June, at 12 noon.
Isaac Gawne, Returning Officer.
In the event of a Poll being demanded in any Subdivision, the Election will take place in the above-mentioned places, from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. on Thursday, the eleventh day of June.
HAMPDEN ROAD BOARD.
TENDERS Wanted for the formation of Contracts Nos. 8, 10, and 11; also, Contract No. 12, Stone and Timber Bridge.
Plans and specifications can be seen at Mr. M’Intyre’s store, Hampden.
Tenders to be lodged with the undersigned, on or before 2nd June, 1874. The Board not bound to accept the lowest or any tender.

NOTICE.—The Hampden District Road Board having authorised a general road rate for the year 1873-74, all ratepayers are requested to pay their respective rates to me, on or before 10th June, 1874. For the convenience of ratepayers, I will attend at the Mechanics’ Institute, Hampden, on Saturday, 23rd May, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Successful applicant must be able to take charge of the school by the 18th June, 1874.

WANTED, a Mistress for the Kaikorai District School. Salary, Government allowance, £75, and one-tenth of school fees—together, not less than £100 per annum.

Wanted, also, a Pupil Teacher, Male or Female. Applications to be forwarded as above.
SYDNEY HATFIELD, Hon. Sec., Kaikorai School Committee.
WANTED, a Schoolmaster for the Wallacetown School; salary, Government subsidy, and School fees, with 2½ acres of land, and free house containing five rooms. Applications with testimonials to be sent in to the Rev. A. Stevens, Chairman of School Committee, on or before the 20th May. One qualified to teach the classics and Higher Branches preferred. Must be able to enter upon his duties by the 29th June.

INCENDIARISM.
Maliciously Setting Fire to 175 bags of a Wheat and Stack of Straw.
£50 Reward.
And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.
WHEREAS on the night of the 2nd inst., 175 bags of wheat and a stack of straw, situate at the rear of the Horse Ranges near Palmerston, the property of William Jack, were destroyed by fire. And whereas at an inquest held on the 9th inst., at the Palmerston Hotel, Palmerston, by J. W. Murdoch, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict:—"That the fire was caused by some person or persons at present unknown." Notice is hereby given that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.
