INCENDIARISM.
Maliciously Setting Fire to Four Stacks of Wheat.
£50 Reward,
And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.
WHEREAS on the morning of the 2nd instant four stacks of wheat, situate at Lake Hayes, Arrow District, the property of Thomas McIntyre, value £200, were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held on the 8th instant, at the residence of Mr. Paterson, Lake Hayes, by J. Beckham, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict:--"That the wheat was maliciously burned by some person or persons at present unknown."
Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused; and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

WHEREAS about 11 o’clock on the night of the 29th ultimo, a stack of wheat, situate at Totara, near Oamaru, the property of the New Zealand and Australian Land Company, value £180, was discovered on fire: And whereas the said fire is believed to have been the act of an Incendiary:
Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £100 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

£200 Reward,
And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.
WHEREAS it has been represented to the Provincial Government of Otago that, on the 2nd instant, four stacks of wheat, situate at Lake Hayes, the property of Thomas McIntyre, value £200; that, on the 12th instant, three stacks of wheat, situate at Arrow Junction, the property of Robert Pritchard, value £600; that, on the 18th instant three stacks of wheat situate at Arrow Junction, the property of James Whelan, value £400; and that on the 24th instant, four stacks of wheat the property of William Scoles, value £300, all situate in the Arrow District, were destroyed by fire: And whereas the said fires are believed to have been the work of incendiaries:
Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £200 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom any of the said fires were caused; and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fires, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

Everett, which was insured in the New Zealand National Insurance Company for £80, was destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest, held on the 16th instant by T. W. Parker, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict:--"That the fire took place under suspicious circumstances, and was caused by some person or persons to the jury unknown, and that the stack was only of the value of £30."
Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

WHEREAS about 10 o’clock p.m. on the 2nd instant, three stacks of wheat and one stack of oats, situate at North Clutha, near Kaitangata Lake, the property of William M’Fadden, containing about 1,800 bushels of wheat, were destroyed by fire: And whereas the said fire is believed to have been the act of an incendiary:
Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £100 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

IMPOUNDED, on the 1st day of May, 1874, by A. Bruce, Ranger for the Otepopo Road Board.
One red cow, branded WD off rump, rope on neck.
Owner unknown, for trespassing on District roads, for which ten shillings driving fees are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cow will be sold at the public pound at Otepopo, on Friday, the 29th day of May, 1874, at 12 o’clock noon.
