PROVINCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS.
The following Regulations of the Education Board respecting Provincial Scholarships are published for general information.
School teachers are requested to forward to me, before the 1st April, 1874, a list containing the names and ages of intending competitors belonging to their several schools.
For Regulations see Gazette published in December last.

EDUCATION RESERVES, SOUTHLAND.
APPLICATIONS will be received by Mr John H. Baker, Survey Office, Invercargill, from persons wishing to lease any of the Reserves as formerly advertised.
Copies of the Otago Regulations, and conditions for the leasing of Education Reserves, can be obtained from Mr Baker, Invercargill.
TO TEACHERS AND PUPIL TEACHERS.
THE Half-yearly Examination of Teachers and Pupil Teachers will take place at the Education Office, on Friday and Saturday, the 30th and 31st January, 1874, at 10 o’Clock, a.m., each day.
TENDERS
TENDERS are invited for the erection of a portion of the New North School, Oamaru.
Plans and Specifications may be seen at the Education Office. Tenders to be lodged with the undersigned on or before the 19th inst.

NOTICE is hereby given that this District School will remain closed during the alterations and additional building now going on.

A Teacher for the Side School, Bannockburn. Applications with testimonials to be lodged with the undersigned not later than the 1st of March, 1874. Successful applicant must be able to take charge of the school on the 1st of April.

A Teacher for Pukeuri School, near Oamaru. Salary, Government allowance of £75 per annum and School Fees. A newly erected four-roomed residence and five acres of glebe attached. Present attendance of pupils, 40. The successful applicant must take charge of the school on the 1st of March. Applications to be sent to the undersigned not later than the 10th February.

BLUESKIN ROAD DISTRICT.
NOTICE.—The Road Rates for the year ending June 30th, 1874, are now due and payable to me at my house, Purakanui.
For the convenience of Ratepayers, I will attend at the undermentioned places from 12 noon to 2 p.m.:—
Waitati Hotel—Tuesday, February 3rd.
Mr. Samuel Carey’s, Hamilton Bay—Wednesday, February 4th.
Mr. Lean’s, Butcher, Port Chalmers—Saturday, February 7th.

CLOSING ROADS.
NOTICE is hereby given, that objections having been lodged with me against the shutting up of certain road lines included in the Roads Diversion Ordinance, 1873, situate in the Districts of Greenvale, Glenkenich, Halfway Bush, Invercargill, Kakanui, Mount Stuart, Makarewa, Portobello and Waitaki, a Special Meeting of the Executive Council will be held in the Government Buildings, Dunedin, on Wednesday, the 18th day of February, 1874, at noon, for the purpose of deciding the said objections, when parties interested are invited to be present.
TENDERS.
THE GREY DISTRICT ROAD BOARD invite Tenders for metalling about 70 chains of road along the front of Saddle Hill. Specifications to be seen at Mr. Jaffrey’s, Saddle Hill, on and after the 19th instant.
Mr. Jaffrey will meet intending contractors on the 26th inst., at 1 p.m., in order to point out the work. Tenders to be lodged with the Chairman or Clerk on or before the 31st inst.

CLUTHA DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.
NOTICE is hereby given, that the first instalment of One Shilling and Three Pence in the £ on the rates for 1873-74 is now due, and that the Collector will make a personal call on every ratepayer for payment on or about the 30th inst., after which legal proceedings will be taken against defaulters without any further notice.

NOTICE
is hereby given, that the Hampden District Road Board intend to levy a General District Rate of one shilling in the pound on the annual value of all property throughout the district for the current year, ending 30th June, 1874. Objectors (if any) must lodge their objections in writing within 30 days from date, at the house of the Clerk, which will be heard at a special meeting at the Mechanics’ Institute, Hampden, on the first Wednesday in March, 1874, at 2 o’clock p.m.
The Rate Book will lie for inspection at the store of Mr. Alex. McIntyre, Hampden.
