Extract from Section XIV of the Education Ordinance, 1864
On the second Monday in the month of January in each year, a public meeting of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in every Educational district, being male persons above twenty-one years of age, shall be held at a time and place to be fixed by the Secretary of the Board, and notified by public advertisement at least one month previously, and in such other manner as the Board shall direct, and at such meeting a Chairman shall be chosen and the School Committee for the preceding year shall give a full report of their proceedings, and thereupon the electors present shall proceed to elect, either by show of hands or by ballot, as shall be determined upon by the said meeting, a new School Committee for the ensuing year of not less than five nor more than nine persons possessing the qualifications prescribed by clause 13, and may re-elect all or any of the persons going out of office to be members of such new Committee, and every Committee so to be appointed shall hold office until the appointment of their successors.

The Education Board, at a meeting held on the 14th instant, resolved to postpone the day of examination for Provincial Scholarships to the first Tuesday of April, 1874.

ELECTION OF A BOARD OF WARDENS FOR THE TUAPEKA DEPASTURING DISTRICT
NOTICE is hereby given that an election of a Board of Wardens for the Tuapeka Depasturing District will be held at the Court-house, Lawrence, on Saturday, the 20th December next; and that nominations of candidates, in form prescribed by the Depasturing Regulations, will be received by the Warden on or before Friday, the 19th of that month.

Tenders to be endorsed “Green Island Branch Railway Tender for Contract No. 829.” The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

EAST TAIERI SUBDIVISION
TENDERS wanted for 200 yards of road metal. Apply to the clerk, who will receive tenders until noon, 1st December next. Lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
GAOL RATIONS, INVERCARGILL
TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Tuesday, 2nd December, 1873, for supply of the said Rations for the year 1874. Forms of tender may be obtained at the Gaoler, Invercargill. The Government will not be bound to accept the lowest or any tender.

No. 2.—Construction of Beach Road from jetty, Broad Bay, towards Mr Thomas Anderson’s. Mr G. Green will show the work on Thursday, the 4th December, at 2 p.m.
No. 3.—Removing Bush off Cowan’s Road, Sandymount. Mr D. Aitchison will show the work on Wednesday, the 3rd December, at 1 p.m.
