NOTICE

Of certain land in the Province of Otago, having been set apart as a site for a school.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have, under and by virtue of section 160 of the “Otago Waste Lands Act 1872,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be set apart as a site for a school, and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described a reserve for a site for a school (that is to say)—Section 9, block XV, Outram.

Dated at Dunedin, this twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

NOTICE.—FOREST TREE PLANTING.

HIS Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Otago directs it to be notified that he has appointed Rangers

THOMAS JOHN INNES,
WILLIAM HENRY VALPY,

to be Officers for the purpose of certifying that the conditions entitling claimants to a free grant of land under the provisions of “The Forest Trees Planting Encouragement Act 1871,” the Act in amendment thereof, of 1872, and “The Otago Waste Lands Act 1872,” have been fulfilled.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Superintendent of Otago, with the advice of the Executive Council, has appointed the following gentlemen, viz.,

JOHN TURNBULL THOMSON, Esq.,
WALTER HENRY PEARSON, Esq.,
JOHN ROBERT CUTHBERTSON, Esq.,

Commissioners under Section two (2) of “The Southland Waste Lands Act Amendment Act 1873,” to classify all the Waste Lands of the Crown within the District formerly known as the Province of Southland, and not included within any Hundreds now existing, into agricultural land and pastoral land respectively.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

Light-ship on the Timaru Bank, Dunedin Harbour.

NOTICE is hereby given, that on and after the 1st January, 1874, a Fixed White Light will be exhibited from a Light-ship moored on the Timaru Bank, in the Lower Harbour of Dunedin. It will show an unbroken light all round, and may be seen in clear weather five miles.

SURVEYORS’ CADETS WANTED.

FOUR Survey Apprentices required for the Survey Department. Age, not under 17. For terms apply at the Survey Office, Dunedin. None but well-educated youths, having a taste for Drawing, need apply. Applications will be received up to 1st December.

AUCTIONEERS’ LICENSES FOR 1874.

APPLICATIONS must be lodged in the Superintendent’s Office on or before the 2nd December next.

HOLIDAY.—The Provincial Government Offices will not be opened on St. Andrew’s Day, Monday, 1st December, 1873.

EDUCATION MEETINGS.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Annual Statutory Meeting of the Owners and Occupiers of Land and Householders in each Educational District, for the Election of a new School Committee, and for the other purposes specified by Ordinance, will be held upon Monday, the 12th day of January, 1874, at seven o’clock p.m., at the following mentioned places respectively, viz.:

At Dunedin, in the Middle District School-house, between York place and Dowling street;

At Tokomairiro, in the Main District School-house, Milton;

And in the respective School-houses, or buildings used as School-houses, in the following mentioned districts, viz.: Port Chalmers, Portobello, North-East Harbour, Ander-
