NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby given that the above Board intend to form a road line on part sections 17, 19, North-east Valley, and part section 11, North Harbour and Blueskin; also another road line on part sections 51, 53, 55, block XI, North Harbour and Blueskin; said roads to be 60 links wide, and under the authority and powers vested in the Board, as per "Highway Boards Empowering Act," together with the "Lands Consolidation Act."

The specifications and plans of the above roads can be seen by any person interested for 40 days from this date at the North-east Valley schoolhouse between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; and any person affected by the above works are required to state their objections in writing, and forward to the Board within 40 days from this date; and the Board will meet to hear and decide upon objections (if any) on Saturday, the 10th day of January, 1874, at 2 o’clock p.m.

I desire the separating fence between sections 42 and 65 be made immediately, and such fence be sod wall, double ditches, three wires and eight posts per chain, bank to be sown with gorse and broom.

The Co-partnership subsisting between John Lawrence Smith and William Smith, as storekeepers, &c., at Evans Flat, near Lawrence, under the name of J. and W. Smith, was dissolved, as of the month of December, 1865; and all funds and effects of the said late firm were transferred to the said William Smith for his own individual use.

The North Taieri Road Board intend to levy a General Rate of Sixpence in the £ on all rateable property within the District for the year ending June, 1874. The Rate-book lies for inspection at the house of Mr. Wm. Couper, Mosgiel. Objections, if any, to the valuation to be sent in writing to the undersigned within thirty days from date of this notice, and will be decided at a special meeting of the Board at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the 17th December, 1873.

Owners unknown; for trespassing on Oreti Hundred, for which 6s each are claimed; and in default of being released, the above horses will be sold at the public pound at Isla Bank on Friday, the 28th day of November, 1873, at 12 o’clock noon.

Owner unknown; for which 2s 6d damages is claimed and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the public pound, Popotunoa, on Friday, the 5th day of December, 1873, at 12 o’clock noon.

Owner unknown; found wandering in the township, for which 6s per head is claimed for driving; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold on the 5th day of December, 1873, at 12 o’clock noon.

CORPORATION OF INVERCARGILL.

LONDON, £3,500. at Six per cent.

THE Town Council having resolved, under the borrowing powers conferred on the Corporation by the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865," to contract a second Loan of £3,500, sealed tenders will be received up to 3 p.m. of the 20th November, 1873, for Seventy (70) Fifty Pounds (£50) Debentures. To bear interest at the rate of six per cent. per annum, payable half-yearly at Dunedin or Invercargill. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted. Tenders to be endorsed, "Tender for Debentures."

The interest and sinking funds on loans are a first charge upon the rates. The debentures will be redeemable by a sinking fund, invested annually by Trustees appointed by the Superintendent.

The money raised will be expended exclusively on the drainage of the town and formation of streets.

The rates for the statutory financial year, ending 19th April, 1872, amounted to £1046 9s., of which £1018 6d remains unpaid.

For 1873, £1230.
For 1874, £1386.

The annual revenue amounts to about £4000.

The financial position of the Corporation is shown by the Balance Sheet and Estimate of Revenue, published in the Provincial Government Gazettes of 15th January and 30th April, 1873, respectively.

NOTICE.

NOTICE is hereby given that from and after this date any person removing cattle from off the land belonging to Mr Samuel O’Kane, Reliance Hotel, Otakia, and situate in blocks III., IV., and V., Otakia district, without first giving Mr. O’Kane notice of his intention so to do will be prosecuted according to law—the penalty for said offence being any sum not exceeding £50; and further notice is hereby given, that from and after the 10th day of November next all cattle found trespassing on said land will be impounded.
