NOTICE is hereby given that the remaining halves of sections 9, 10, 11, and 12, blocks 47 and 7, block 50, containing 25a each, more or less; section 37, block 1, Pomahaka district, containing 16a 2r 6p, will be offered for sale by public auction, at Mr Capstick’s auction rooms, Tokomairiro, on Monday, the first day of September next, at noon, at the upset price of 20s per acre.

INVERCARGILL, BLUFF & WINTON RAILWAY

On and after May 1st, 1873, daily trains will run as under:-

Leave Winton for Invercargill at 8.15 a.m.
Invercargill for Bluff at 9.45 a.m.
Bluff for Invercargill at 11.45 a.m.
Invercargill for Bluff at 2 p.m.
Invercargill for Winton at 4 p.m.
Bluff for Invercargill at 4 p.m.

A train will leave Winton on Saturday evenings at 5.15, returning from Invercargill on Monday mornings at 7. There are no trains on Sunday.

NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.

RATEPAYERS are hereby notified that the accounts of the District Board have been made up for the year ending June 30th, 1873; also the annual meeting of the ratepayers will be held at the North-east Valley Schoolhouse on Wednesday, the 20th August, at 12 noon.

BYE-LAWS passed by the Wardens of Forest Hill Hundred, 19th July, 1873.

  1. That no Cattle of any description be depastured on the Crown Lands of the Forest Hill hundred without a license, provided always that Cattle and Horses of bona fide travellers on their journey, when turned out, be not considered trespassers if not longer than two nights in the same neighborhood.

  2. That all persons, not being licensed to depasture stock on the Forest Hill hundred, remove their Cattle and Horses within thirty days of the publication of this notice.

  3. That no Sheep or small Cattle of any kind be depastured on the Crown Lands of the Hundred, and that Sheep travelling through the District be treated as trespassers if found without a shepherd, or if camped for the night within five miles of the previous night’s camping ground.

  4. That no entire horse over twelve months old be depastured on the Crown Lands of the Forest Hill hundred, and that no bull or bull stag shall be allowed to run thereon, after fourteen days’ notice to that effect has been given in writing to the owner thereof.

  5. That no person shall be allowed to depasture on the Crown Lands of the hundred, more than one head of cattle to three acres, or one horse to every nine acres of land in his occupation, and that all cattle and horses so depastured, must bear the registered brand of the license holders.

  6. That all stray stock depastured in contravention of any of the foregoing bye-laws may be impounded, and that the Wardens will not be responsible for any mistakes which may arise through cattle not bearing brands according to the “Cattle Branding Ordinance.”

  7. That all persons entitled to depasture cattle and horses within the said hundreds, shall within thirty days hereof furnish a return of their brands, cattle, horses, and acreage of freehold to the Chairman.

  8. That all persons entitled to depasture cattle and horses within the said hundreds, being leaseholders, shall within thirty days hereof furnish a return of the number of acres leased, from whom leased, and submit the lease to the inspection of the Chairman if required.

  9. That the penalty for any breach of the foregoing bye-laws, be any sum not exceeding five pounds sterling, to be recovered in a summary way, according to the 45th clause of Land Regulations.
