RURAL LAND FOR SALE BY AUCTION.

On Thursday, the 26th day of June next, sections 21A and 21B block IV Campbelltown Hundred, will be sold by auction at the land office, Invercargill, sale to commence at 12 o'clock sharp.

NOTICE is hereby given that His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in him in that behalf by the 124th section of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” has been pleased to appoint the following persons as Auditors for the various District Road Boards as under—

John Robert Mills, Riverton, Aparima road district.
Francis Gelding, Morton, Waikouaiti road district.
Adam Landells, Tuapeka, Kaitangata road district.
Thomas Kerr, Outram road district.
William Johnston, Waikari, Half-way bush road district.

OTAGO ROADS ORDINANCE, 1871.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified that, owing to the Road Boards having failed to appoint persons for holding elections in and for the Subdivisions of the Kaitangata and Oreti Road District, he has appointed the undermentioned persons for holding the elections in and for the Subdivisions of the said District set opposite their names.

Mr. Robert Chapman, Coombe Hay Subdivision; Mr. Thomas Johnston, Wangaloa Subdivision; Mr Daniel Shea Lawlor, Hokanui Subdivision; Mr Brumley, Waiau.

PRESBYTERIAN FAST.

Thursday, 12 June, 1873, being the Presbyterian fast day, in Dunedin, the Provincial Government Offices will not be open.


EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS.

A MEETING of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the Educational Districts of West Taieri and Outram respectively will be held in the Schoolhouse of each district upon Monday, the 9th day of June, 1873, at half-past seven o’clock p.m., for the purpose of electing a School Committee for the remainder of the current year.

TENDERS.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 10th June, 1873, for—

Contract No. 735.—Construction of 2 miles 12 chains of the Orepuki Tramway.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the Office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, on and after 15th inst., and at Court House, Riverton.

Tenders to be endorsed “Orepuki Tramway Tender for Contract No. 735.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

OTAUTAU RAILWAY.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 24th June, 1873, for Contract No. 742, for construction of three miles of Light Railway between Riverton and Otautau.

Plans and Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at the Court House, Riverton, on and after the 3rd June inst.

Tenders to be indorsed, “Otautau Railway, Tender for Contract No. 742.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

HALF-WAY BUSH ROAD DISTRICT.—FLAGSTAFF SUBDIVISION.

TENDERS will be received until Friday the 6th inst., at 4 p.m. for Contracts Nos. 1, 2, and 3, Supply of Metal and Road Formation. Particulars at office of undersigned. The Board do not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

BREAD.

TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Government Office, Dunedin, until noon of Tuesday, the 10th day of June, 1873, for supplying Bread to Hospital and Lunatic Asylum, for six months ending 31st December, 1873. £20 must be deposited with each tender.


NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.

TENDERS are invited for removing land slips and repairing and cleaning out water tables on West Harbour road, No. 1; also repairs on School’s road, Pine Hill.

Specifications by Valley schoolhouse, and tenders to be left and opened by the Board on Saturday, the 7th June, at 2 p.m.

WANTED.

TO SURVEYORS.

WANTED, an experienced Surveyor, to take charge of the Aparima and Waiau Survey District. Applications, stating qualifications, to be forwarded to the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin; or the Inspector of Surveys, Invercargill. Surveyor will be paid by an acreage fee on all land purchased in his district.

The following is a description of the areas of survey requiring to be completed:—

  • Twenty sections, containing 4897 acres; fees, with travelling expenses added, come to £252 9s.
  • Also three bush reserves containing 960 acres: survey fees, £91 14s.

In addition to this work, the adjoining district surveyor, who has more work on hand than he can complete, will transfer surveys in the Invercargill survey district containing:

  • Eleven sections, 2594 acres; survey fees, £136 3s 3d.
  • Seven Bush Reserves, 2252 acres; survey fees, £256 12s 8d.

Making a total of surveys to be completed, 10,243 acres; survey fees, £737 0s 8d.


AUCTIONEERS.

A MEETING will be held in the Government offices, Dunedin, at noon, on Thursday, 19th June, 1873, to consider the application by William Hayes, Lawrence, for an Auctioneers’ License.
