PROCLAMATION

Appointing certain Roads in the Matau Road District to be Main District Roads.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” it is provided that upon the application of the Road Board of any road district, the Superintendent may from time to time, if it shall seem fit so to do, by proclamation, appoint that any roads or parts of roads, whether within or upon the boundary of such district, shall be main roads or main district roads: And whereas the Road Board for the Matau road district have applied to me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, to appoint the roads hereinafter described to be main district roads.

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers in this behalf vested in me by the said “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” do hereby appoint the following roads situated within or upon the boundary of the Matau road district aforesaid, to be main district roads (that is to say):-

(1.) All that area in the Province of Otago being road line between sections numbered respectively 13 and 42 block I Hillend District and parts of 1 2 3 4 and 5 block XIX North Molyneux district together with parts of sections numbered 1 and 8 block XIV North Molyneux district bounded towards the east by the said section numbered 13 also by other parts of the said sections and towards the west by section numbered 42 block I Hillend district.

(2.) All that district road situated in North Molyneux district bounded towards the north-east by block XIV by sections numbered 1 2 3 4 5 and 7 block XII by a road line also by part of section 1 and 2 3 4 5 6 7 and 8 block X and towards the south-west by the Clutha river by section numbered 8 block XII and 8 block XIII.

(3.) All that district road in North Molyneux district bounded towards the north-west by section numbered 1 block XII and towards the south-east by section numbered 8 block X.

(4.) All that area in North Molyneux district being parts of sections numbered respectively 1 block X 8 block VI 1 block VII 8 block VI 1 block VIII 1 and 2 block VI and 2 3 9 and 10 block V bounded towards the north-east by other parts of the said sections and towards the south-west by other parts of the said sections.

(5.) All that district road in North Molyneux district bounded towards the north by sections numbered respectively 1 and 2 block V and 1 2 3 4 5 and 6 block IV and towards the south by the Clutha river also by section 7 block IV.

(6.) All that district road in Inch Clutha district bounded towards the east by sections numbered respectively 3 4 and 5 block IV and part of 1 block VI and towards the west by part of the said section 1 and by the Clutha river.

(7.) All that district road in Inch Clutha district bounded towards the north-east and east by sections numbered respectively 2 6 8 and 10 block XIII by the Clutha river by section numbered 10 block X again by the Clutha river by section numbered 7 block IV 1 block VI and 5 and 6 block IV and again by the Clutha river and towards the west and south-west by blocks numbered I III VI and VIII by sections numbered 1 2 3 4 and 9 block X and block numbered XII also by sections numbered 13 4 9 and 11 block XIII and a lagoon.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this nineteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

OTAGO ROADS ORDINANCE 1871.

Alteration of Polling Places.

WHEREAS by notice and appointment dated the 18th day of June 1872, published in Otago Provincial Gazette, the polling places for the respective districts and subdivisions of districts therein mentioned, under and by virtue of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” were duly fixed and appointed until the same shall be altered or varied: And whereas it is expedient that the polling places in the districts and subdivisions of districts aforementioned should be altered:-

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby revoke the appointment of the polling places for the district and subdivisions aforesaid, made by the notice and appointment dated the 18th day of June 1872, and in lieu thereof do hereby appoint the places after-mentioned to be the polling places for the district and subdivisions of district after-mentioned, at which the poll shall be taken in all elections under the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” held for the same, until duly altered or varied, of which notice is hereby given to all concerned:-

District. Polling Places.

Hawksbury

  • Hawksbury Bush Subdivision – The house of Mr James Hall, Main North Road.
  • Matanaka Subdivision – Miller’s store, Main North Road.
  • Cranbourne Subdivision – The School house.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

I, JAMES MACANDREW, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Otago in this behalf by the “Roads Diversion Ordinance 1872,” and of the powers vested in me as Superintendent of the Province of Otago, hereby proclaim and declare that all those roads and all those portions of roads in the Province of Otago, mentioned and particularly described in the Schedule hereto, shall from and after the day of the date hereof, cease to be public roads or thoroughfares, and shall no longer form part of the public roads in the several Road Districts in the Province of Otago, mentioned in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed.

SANDYMOUNT ROAD DISTRICT (New Portobello).

(1.) All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement 1a 1r 13p, more or less, being a road line situate in the Otago Peninsula Survey District, bounding towards the north-west by sections numbered 26 and part of 27, block III, two thousand seven hundred and fifty (2750) links, more or less, and towards the south-east by other parts of said sections numbered 26 and 27, block III, two thousand seven hundred and fifty (2750) links, more or less, except that part of said area which is crossed by a new District Road fifty (50) links wide.

Dated at Dunedin, this nineteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

In conformity to the 29th section of the Gold Fields Act, 1866, and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this nineteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
