PROCLAMATION
Appointing certain Roads in the Aparima Road District to be Main District Roads.
By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” it is provided that upon the application of the Road Board of any road district, the Superintendent may from time to time, if it shall seem fit so to do, by proclamation, appoint that any roads or parts of roads, whether within or upon the boundary of such district, shall be main roads or main district roads: And whereas the Road Board for the Aparima road district have applied to me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, to appoint the roads hereinafter described to be main district roads (that is to say)—
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in this behalf vested in me by the said “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” do hereby appoint the following roads situate within or upon the boundary of the Aparima road district aforesaid, to be main district roads (that is to say)—
Jacobs River Hundred Subdivision.
1st. The road commencing at the Jacobs river bridge and extending through sections 33 to 38, block IV, Jacobs river hundred; thence in a north-easterly direction through block IV and IX, to the north-east corner of section 15 of the last mentioned block; and thence in a north-westerly direction, till it meets the main road at westernmost corner of section 31, block VIII, of the aforesaid hundred.
2nd. The road line forming the north-eastern boundary of sections 32 and 46, block IV, Jacobs river hundred.
3rd. The new line of road leaving the first described road at the north-west corner of section 21, block IX, Jacobs river hundred, extending in a south-easterly direction and forming the south-western boundary of section 22; thence extending through sections 23 and 18 of said block, to the westernmost angle of section 33; and thence along the western boundary of sections 32 and 38 of block IX aforesaid, to the ford (in the Jacobs river) and thence along the north-east boundary of section 44, block VII, of the aforesaid hundred of Jacobs river, the last described portion being in the Waimatuku subdivision of the Aparima road district.
4th. The Mill road, leaving the main road from Riverton to the Otautau, at the north-east corner of section 14, block IV, Jacobs river hundred, and extending to the north-east corner of section 5, of the said block.
5th. The road line commencing at the northern boundary line of section 38, block VIII, Jacobs river hundred, and extending in an easterly direction through section 38 aforesaid, to the ford in the Jacobs river.
Waimatuku Subdivision.
1st. The road line commencing at the ford in the Jacobs river in section 61, block X, Jacobs river hundred, and extending through sections 61, 60, and 1 of said block; thence along the northern boundary of block X aforesaid, to the north-east corner of section 29 of said block; and thence in a south-easterly direction to the south corner of section 58 of block X aforesaid, where it joins the Yellow Bluff road line.
2nd. The road line leaving the Wallace town and Riverton road at section 48, block VII, Jacobs river hundred, and extending in a northerly direction through blocks VII, X and XV, of said hundred, till it joins the road at the north-east corner of section 25, block XV aforesaid.
3rd. The road line forming the northern boundary of sections 52 and 33, block VII, Jacobs river hundred.
4th. The road line leaving the Wallacetown and Riverton road at the north-west corner of section 4, Jacobs river hundred, and extending in a southerly direction down the Waimatuku flat, crossing the Waimatuku stream in section 1A, New river hundred, and re-crossing the said stream at Trig. station H, and from thence till it joins the Riverton beach road.
New River Subdivision.
1st. The road line leaving the Wallacetown and Riverton road, at the south-west corner of section 14, block XVI, New river hundred, and extending due north to the north-west corner of section 11 of said block, then in a north-easterly direction till it joins the road line at the south-east corner of section 26, block XIV; and thence in a northerly direction through blocks XIV and XIII of the aforesaid hundred, to the northern boundary of the Aparima road district.
2nd. The road line leaving the Wallacetown and Riverton road at the south-east corner of section 3, block VI, New river Hundred, and extending in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of block VI, and through block XI to the south-east corner of block VII; thence along the eastern boundary of said block VII, and through block XIII of the aforesaid hundred, to the northern boundary of the Aparima road district.
3rd. The road leaving the Wallacetown and Riverton road at the north-east corner of section 14, block XI, New river hundred, and extending in a southerly direction, forming the eastern boundary of sections 14, 18, and 47 of said block, to the Bush reserve.
Mount Pleasant Subdivision.
1st. The road leading from Otautau township reserve and extending in a north-westerly direction through block II, Aparima hundred, to section 17, block II aforesaid; thence in a north-easterly direction, parallel to Jacob’s
