PROCLAMATION.
Extending the Limits of the Otago Gold Field.
By His Honor JAMES MACANDREW, Esq., Superintendent
of the Province of Otago in Council.
WHEREAS it is desirable to alter and extend the
limits of "The Otago Gold Field," so as to in-
clude therein the area land hereafter described:
Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Esq., Superin-
tendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province,
and by virtue and in exercise of all powers delegated to the
Executive Council of the said Province in this behalf, by
His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in Council,
under the authority of "The Gold Fields Act Amendment
Act, 1867," and of any and every power in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that all that area hereinafter described shall
henceforth be included within and form part of the
"Otago Gold Field," that is to say:-

All that area in the Province of Otago in the Colony of New
Zealand containing by admeasurement eleven thousand (11000)
acres more or less situate in the Waikouaiti and Dunback Dis-
tricts bounded towards the north-east by the north-eastern
boundary lines of sections numbered respectively 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
43 44 45 46 25 26 and 27 Waihemo Survey District and towards
the south-east by the boundary of Moeraki Hundred to run
numbered 60 towards the north-east by a road line and sections
numbered respectively 31 and 32 Dunback District and by sec-
tions numbered respectively 1 2 3 and 4 block IV Dunback
District towards the south-by the south-western boundary
lines of block numbered 111 Dunback District and block VI
Waihemo District and towards the north-west by runs num-
bered respectively 210 and 255 excepting out of the above des-
cription and admeasurement sections numbered respectively 11
15 16 22 23 24 28 32 33 34 37 38 41 47 48 49 50 and 52 Wai-
hemo District and 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 28 34 39 and
pre-emptive right under application numbered 8758 Dunback
District.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public

tive Council of the said Province, being
also Members of the Provincial Council

NOTICE.
Formation of Land Districts.
WHEREAS by the 14th Section of "The Otago
Waste Lands Act 1872" it is enacted that it
should be lawful for the Waste Lands Board, with the
consent of the Superintendent of the Province of Otago,
to create districts for the sale and disposal of land; and
that, for the purposes of the said Act, such districts
should be called Land Districts; and that it should be
lawful for the Board to appoint offices at such places as
might be most convenient for the sale and disposal of land
within such district; and to appoint officers or other
persons for conducting such sales, and for receiving appli-
cations for the sale, letting, disposal or occupation of
Waste Lands, and for generally carrying into effect the
provisions of the said Act: And whereas the Waste
Lands Board of the Province of Otago have, with the
consent of the Superintendent of the said Province, re-
solved that the several areas hereinafter described shall
be created Land Districts within the meaning of the said
Act, to be respectively called the Hindon, Lawrence,
Naseby, Clyde, Queenstown and Invercargill Land Dis-
tricts; that the Land Offices at Dunedin, Lawrence,
Naseby, Clyde, Queenstown and Invercargill, shall be
appointed as Offices for the sale and disposal of Land
within each district respectively, and that Alexander
James Willis, Esquire, Vincent Pyke, Esquire, Henry
Wirgman Robinson, Esquire, William Lure, the sale,
Simpson, Esquire, Richmond Beetham, and Crafer
Henry Pearson, Esquire, shall be the officers for con-
ducting sales, and for receiving applications for the sale,
letting, disposal, and occupation of the Waste Lands
within each district respectively, and for generally carry-
ing into effect the provisions of the said Act and
said districts: It is therefore notified that the Board
hereinafter described have been created Land Districts
from the beginning of the Otago Waste Lands Act
in that the said Alexander James Willis, Esquire,
Vincent Pyke, Esquire, Henry Wirgman Robinson,
Esquire, William Lawrence Simpson, Esquire, Richmond
Beetham, Esquire, and Walter Henry Pearson, Esquire,
have been appointed as and to be the officers for conduct-
ing sales, and receiving applications for the sale, letting,
disposal or occupation of the Waste Lands in the said areas,
within the said areas, and that from and after the 1st day of
May, 1873, all applications for the sale, letting, disposal,
or occupation of the Waste Lands within the said areas,
may be made to the said Officers at the several Land
Offices named aforesaid.

Descriptions of Land Districts above Referred to.

Hindon District comprises all that area bounded by a
line proceeding in an easterly direction from Lammertaw to and
along Sutton Stream to the Taieri River thence north-easterly
along the Taieri River to the junction of Allen Creek thence in
an easterly direction along Allen Creek to its source and by a
direct line to Silver Peak Hills thence in a southerly direction
along the Silver Peak Hills to the northern boundary line of
the East Taieri Hundred thence along the said boundary to the
eastern boundary of block II Dunedin and East Taieri Survey
District thence by the said eastern boundary to the road line
running the southern boundary of sections numbered respect-
ively 21, 22, 25, 6, 7, and 8 block II aforesaid thence along the
said road line to the Taieri River thence to and along Lee
Stream to its source and thence by the ranges to Lammerlaw.
Also all that other area bounded towards the north-west by
the boundary of Dunedine Hundred twenty-five thousand eight
hundred and twenty (25,820) links towards the north-east by
block II North Harbor and Blueskin Survey District seven
thousand and twenty (7029) links towards the east by block III
3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 block III North Harbor and Blueskin
Survey District and thence thirty-one thousand one hun-
dred and seventy-seven (31,177) links towards the south by
block VIII North Harbor and Blueskin Survey District and
block V Dunediu and East Taieri Survey District fifteen thou-
sand four hundred (15,400) links.

Lawrence Land District comprises all that area bounded by
a line proceeding from Dunedin Hundred then easterly direction
along the southern boundary of the Clyde Survey District to the
Lammerlaw thence south-easterly along the ranges and Lee
Stream to a point north of Maungatua Hill thence southerly to
Maungatua Hill thence south-westerly along the boundary of
the Hundreds to the east branch of the Tokomairiro River
thence by the said stream and by a direct line from
Trig Station F to Trig Station E Table Hill thence Trig Sta-
tion F to Trig Station E aforesaid thence to Trig Station
D thence to Trig Station C thence to Trig Station K
all in the Table Hill District aforesaid thence to Trig Sta-
tion L thence to Trig Station W both in the Toko-
mairiro Survey District thence to Trig Station V Hillend Dis-
trict thence in a direct line from the Trig Station Z in the same
district to the boundary of the Hundreds thence in a south-
westerly direction to the south-eastern corner of the Waitahuna
Hundred thence north-westerly along the boundary of the said
Hundred to Scrub Burn, thence south-westerly across the
Clutha River and by a direct line to the Pomahaka River and
along the said river to the junction of the Waipahi stream
northerly to the junction of the Waikikoi stream thence north-
westerly along the Waikikoi stream to its source and
and thence in a northerly direction along the western watershed
of the Pomahaka River over the Wendon Hill and the Black
Umbrella Mountain to Whitecoomb the starting point.

Naseby Land District comprises all that area bounded by a
line proceeding from Lammerlaw along the boundary of the
Clyde Land District to the east of the Bathaus thence easterly to
the Hawkdun Mountains thence southerly along the Hawkdun
Mountains to a point due west of Donet Mountain thence
easterly to Donet Mountain thence north-westerly to Kurrow
Mountain thence north-easterly to and along Little Kyeburn
Creek to the Waitaki River thence south-easterly along the
Waitaki River to the Maruweuna Hundred thence southerly
along the western boundary of the said Hundred to the south-
western corner thereof thence westerly to the south branch of
the Maruwena River thence southerly to the northern branch
of the Kakanui River thence south-westerly to the Kakanui
Mountains thence south-easterly along the Kakanui Mountains
