NOTICE FOR DISTRICT ROAD BOARDS.

Dunedin, 11th February, 1873.
ANY District Road Board requiring a road or roads to be taken through private property under the powers conferred on the Government by the “Provincial Compulsory Lands Taking Act 1866,” must forward to this office plans and descriptions of such road or roads by an authorized surveyor, in sufficient time to enable the standing Rules and Orders of the Provincial Council of Otago under the Act above-mentioned to be complied with.
The clause of the standing Rules and Orders is published below for general information.

Notice of intention to introduce Bill to be gazetted thirty days before Session, and fourteen days’ notice to be given to owner, &c.
- Not less than thirty days previous to the commencement of the Session in which any Bill shall be introduced under the provisions of the “Provincial Compulsory Land Taking Act 1866” (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), a notice shall be published in the New Zealand Government Gazette and also in the Government Gazette of the Province, setting forth the objects, and stating the intention to introduce such a Bill; and, also, stating the time at which a copy of the Bill may be inspected at the offices of the Clerk of the Provincial Council; and such notice shall contain the name of the township, district, or other territorial division in which the lands intended to be taken are situated, and the blocks and sections or parts of sections to be so taken; and not less than fourteen days previous to the commencement of the Session a notice in the form or to the effect set forth in the Appendix marked B shall be given to the owners, or reputed owners, lessees, or reputed lessees, and occupiers of all lands intended to be taken for the purposes of the Bill, either by delivering a copy of such notice personally to every such person, or by leaving the same at his or her usual or last known place of abode in the Province; or, in case of his or her absence from the Colony, with his or her agent, or by forwarding the same by post in a registered letter, addressed with a sufficient direction to his or her usual or last known place of abode in the Province, duly stamped and posted before the first of such fourteen days at the Chief Post-office in Dunedin.
CLOSING ROADS.
NOTICE is hereby given that objections having been lodged with me against the shutting up of certain road lines included in the Roads Diversion Ordinance 1872, situate in the Districts of Blue Mountain, Beaconsfield, Chelsea, Cranbourne, Coombe Hay, Goodwood, Highcliffe, Harewood, Kaikorai, Lawrence, Lovell’s Brook, Meadowbank, Sandymount, Roslyn, Waihola West, road line at Botanical Gardens, a special meeting of the Executive Council will be held in the Government Buildings, Dunedin, on Tuesday, the 25th day of Feb., at noon, for the purpose of deciding the said objections, when parties interested are invited to be present.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Superintendent has received a Petition, in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” praying for the division of the Pine Hill Subdivision of the North-East Valley District Road Board towards the north-east and that if no objection is urged on or before the 24th of February next, the Superintendent will submit the matter to his Executive Council with a view to the prayer of the Petition being granted.

28th February, Friday noon, 3 fillies will be sold at Isla Bank Pound.
7th March, Friday noon, 2 bullocks, 3 cows, and 3 horses will be sold at East Taieri Pound.

CONDITIONAL TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works, until 1st March, 1873, from persons desirous of constructing a bridge over the Clutha River at the Beaumont, in terms of conditions to be seen at the office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin, and at the Police Camp, Tuapeka, on and after the 15th instant.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 25th Feb., 1873, for:
Contract No. 713—Erection of stone and iron bridge over Lindsay’s Creek, North-East Valley. Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin.
Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 713.”
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
Contract No. 696—Formation and gravelling of 88 chains of road at the “Fern Hills,” on road Winton to Benmore.
Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Winton.
Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works tender for Contract No. 696.”
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
PAYMENT TO BE MADE IN LAND OR CASH, AT THE OPTION OF GOVERNMENT.
FRESH TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 4th March, 1873, for Contract No. 698—Formation and gravelling of road at “Fern Hills.” Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Winton.
Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works tender for Contract No. 698.”
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
TENDERS are invited by the Blueskin Road Board for a small contract on the Port Chalmers and Blueskin Road. By meeting at Mr. James Farquharson at noon on Monday, February 24, contractors will be shown the work, and tenders can be lodged with the undersigned up till the 28th instant. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

Tenders to be marked and addressed to Chairman, and left at School-house on or before Friday, 7th March, at noon. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
