NOTICE

Of certain Lands in the Province of Otago having been reserved as a Site for a Public Cemetery at Winton.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have under and by virtue of section 16 of the “Southland Waste Lands Act 1865,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be reserved as a site for a public Cemetery; and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described a reserve as a site for a public Cemetery (that is to say)—

Sections 11 and 12, block I, East Winton township.

Dated at Dunedin this eighth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

NOTICE

Of certain Lands in the Town of Invercargill, in the Province of Otago, having been set apart as a Site for a Grammar School.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have under and by virtue of section 16 of the “Southland Waste Lands Act 1865,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be set apart as a site for a Grammar School at Invercargill, and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose:

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described a reserve for a site for a Grammar School at Invercargill (that is to say)—

Sections 19, 20, 21 and 22, block LIV, town of Invercargill.

Dated at Dunedin this eighth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

ORDER APPOINTING POLLING-PLACES FOR THE SUB-DIVISIONS OF THE CAVERSHAM ROAD DISTRICT.

WHEREAS by the 101st section of the Otago Roads Ordinance 1871 it is enacted that “In every District divided into sub-divisions the Superintendent shall, within fifteen days after any sub-division of such district shall become such sub-division, appoint in and for such sub-division one place to be the place of polling at all elections held in and for such sub-division:” And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the twentieth day of December 1872, published in the Otago Provincial Gazette on the 25th day of December next thereafter, the Caversham Road District was divided into three separate sub-divisions: And whereas no polling-places were appointed for the said sub-divisions, in terms of the 101st section hereinbefore recited: And whereas by the 201st section of the said Ordinance it is enacted that in all cases in which no provision or no sufficient provision is, in the opinion of the Superintendent, made by the said Ordinance, it shall be lawful for the Superintendent from time to time, for the purpose of facilitating any of the objects thereof, to make and prescribe all such regulations and orders, either general or applicable to particular cases only, as he shall think fit: And whereas it is desirable to appoint polling-places for the said three sub-divisions:

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, do hereby appoint the undermentioned places to be the places of polling at all elections held in and for the several sub-divisions of the Caversham Road District, that is to say—

For Upper Caversham Sub-division, the Schoolhouse, Caversham.

For Middle Caversham Sub-division, the Toll-house, Hillside.

For Lower Caversham Sub-division, the Schoolhouse, Forbury.

Dated at Dunedin, this seventeenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

PURSUANT to the powers delegated to me in that behalf, and under and by virtue of “The Protection of Animals Act 1867,” and “The Protection of Animals Act Amendment Act 1868,” I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim and appoint the months of February, March, April, May, and June as the months in which native game may be hunted, shot, taken, and killed within that part of the Province of Otago formerly included in the late Province of Southland: And I do hereby prescribe that this Proclamation shall take effect from the first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twelfth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PROCLAMATION.

Appointing certain Roads in the Makarewa Road District to be Main District Roads.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS it is provided by the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871” that upon the application of the road Board of any road district, the Superintendent may from time to time, if it shall seem fit so to do, by proclamation, appoint that any roads or parts of roads, whether within or upon the boundary of such district, shall be main roads or main district roads: And whereas the road Board for the Makarewa road district have applied to me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, to appoint the roads hereinafter described to be main district roads:

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in this behalf vested in me by the said “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” do hereby appoint the following roads, situate within or upon the boundary of the Makarewa road district aforesaid, to be main district roads, that is to say:—

  1. The road line running westerly through Weyms street, Winton, and terminating at the south-west corner of section 14, block VI, Winton Hundred.

  2. The road line commencing at the main north road and running in an easterly direction on the southern boundary of the Winton township; thence through the bush along the dividing line between blocks II and III, Winton Hundred, to the south-west corner of section 17, block III, aforesaid; thence along the south-western boundaries of sections 17, 18, 19, and the northern boundary of 30, block III aforesaid, to the eastern boundary of the Winton Hundred.

  3. The road line leading in a north-easterly direction through Ryal Bush, leaving the main north road at section 4, block I, and terminating at section 15, block III, in the New River Hundred.
