PAYMENT TO BE MADE IN LAND OR CASH AT OPTION OF THE GOVERNMENT.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 3rd December, 1872, for Contract No. 694—Formation of portions of road between Winton and Wery’s Bush, commencing about 40 chains north of Winton Bush, on the north road, and terminating at the Aparima River, near Wrey’s Bush.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Winton.

Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works tender for Contract No. 663.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

ACCEPTANCE OF TENDERS.—Contract No. 684—The Tender of D. Campbell for the above contract, for the sum of £74 17s 6d, has been accepted.

Contract No. 685—The Tender of John Lawrence for the above contract, for the sum of £35, has been accepted.

Contract No. 654—The tender of John Findlay for the above contract has been accepted for the sum of £378 2s. 6d.

Contracts Nos. 673 and 675.—The tenders of D. Sinnott for the above contracts, for the respective sums of £455 11s 3d and £697 9s 9½d, have been accepted.

OLD BRASS for sale by public tender. Tenders will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Friday, 15th November, 1872, for about 4 cwt. old brass. Tender to state price per lb.

TENDERS are invited from qualified surveyors to undertake the duties of Engineer to the North-East Valley Road Board at a percentage on the works entered into by the Board. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted by the Board. Tenders will be received till Friday, 29th November, 1872.

AKARI District School, near Dunedin.—Applications will be received by the Wakari School Committee till Monday, the 18th November next, from persons qualified to fill the offices of Schoolmaster and Schoolmistress for said School. The Master’s salary will be the usual Government allowance of £100, and three-fifths of the School Fees; and the Schoolmistress’ salary the Government allowance of £60, and one-fifth of the School Fees. Attached to the School are a five-roomed dwelling-house, garden, and 10 acres of land fenced and laid down in English grass. This School—one of the oldest in the Province—has had an average attendance of 120 scholars for the last three years.

A Schoolmistress who can teach music preferred. Applications, with testimonials, to be made to Mr. George Hepburn, Chairman, or to Mr. Colin Allan, Secretary to School Committee.

WANTED a Teacher for the Side School, Sawyer’s Bay. Salary £75 per annum and School fees, and residence. Number of scholars about 50. Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged with the undersigned on or before the 10th December next.

WANTED, a competent Teacher, on the 1st Jan., 1873, for the New School, Pukeuri, distant six miles from Oamaru; over 50 children supposed to be able attend. Salary: Government Grant and School Fees, and nearly five acres of glebe, on which a comfortable residence is about to be erected. Applications, with testimonials, to be forwarded on or before 17th December, and addressed to the Clerk, Pukeuri School Committee, Oamaru. ENGINEERS.—Applications for the situation of Engineer of Roads and Works, also for the situation of District Engineer, will be received at the Office of Secretary for Works, Provincial Buildings, Dunedin, until noon of Friday, 22nd November, 1872.

PUBLICANS’ LICENSES, &c.—The usual Quarterly Licensing Meetings will be held in the Court-houses throughout the Province at noon on Tuesday, the 3rd day of December, 1872.

Nature of business must be given to the Clerks of Court fourteen days at least before the said date.

900 ACRES on Run 207, lying between Section 310, Hokonui district and the Waimea Stream, hitherto temporarily reserved, will be open for Application on Friday, the 22nd day of November.

SMALL RUN FOR SALE, MONDAY, 2nd December, 1872.

Objections having been lodged to granting a pastoral lease of Run 446 to the present applicant, notice is hereby given that the lease for ten years of the said Run situated near the source of the Tautuku river, Waikawa, containing 2000 acres, will be offered for sale by auction at the Land Office, Dunedin, on the above date, at noon, in terms of the “Otago Waste Land Act 1866,” at the upset price of one halfpenny per acre. Rental to be an assessment of three shillings and sixpence for every head of great cattle to be depastured on Run, but the minimum number not to be less than 80 great cattle. Lease to commence on 3rd December, 1872. The rental and a deposit of one-tenth of the purchase-money shall be payable on the fall of the hammer; the balance of the purchase-money within a month.
