NOTICES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
House of Arthur John Bamford, at Mornington, value £500, by which the same was totally destroyed: And whereas there is no doubt but that the fire was maliciously caused by some evil-disposed person or persons:
Notice is hereby given, that a reward of Fifty Pounds will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago for such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the fire was originated.

ADDITIONAL Polling Places for the election of Members of the House of Representatives
For the District of Wakatipu—

NOTICE.—The Mornington District Road Board have decided to levy a highway rate of 3 per cent. annual valuation upon all rateable property within the said district for the current year. The Rate Roll is prepared and lodged for the inspection of the ratepayers, in conformity with the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871-2,” at the Post Office, Mornington.—J. E. ATTRWOOD, Clerk. October 14th, 1872.
NOTICE.—The Kaikorai District Road Board intend levying a general district rate of ninepence per pound for the year 1872-73, in accordance with “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871.” The rate roll is deposited at the house of Mr Samson, butcher, Green Island, for inspection by the ratepayers from this date.—JAMES MILLER, Green Island, 23rd October, 1872.
NOTICE.—Taieri Road Board.—The Taieri Road Board intend to levy a rate for the current year on all rateable property within the district. The rate-book, containing the valuation of property in the respective subdivisions of the Board, will be open for inspection at the School-house, Mosgiel, every day between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from this date until the 23rd day of November next. Objections, if any, must be lodged with the Clerk in writing not later than the 23rd day of November next.—A. LYONS, Clerk to the Board.
NOTICE.—The North-east Valley Road Board intend, on Saturday, the 26th October, to make a special rate of one shilling (1s) in the pound for the present financial year over the whole of the district. The rate-book can be seen at the store of Mr Thomas Brown, North-east Valley, on and after the 16th October, 1872.—HUGH M’FAYDEN, Clerk to Board.
NOTICE.—The Omaha Road District.—A statement of the proposed rate for the above district for the year 1872-73 lies at my house for the inspection of ratepayers.—WM. DALLAS, Clerk.—Mayfield, 12th October, 1872.
NOTICE.—The Portobello Road Board having decided to levy a general rate of one shilling in the pound, on all rateable property within the district, for the current year. Notice is hereby given that the rate roll will lie for inspection by ratepayers at the house of the Clerk, Hooper’s Inlet, from this date.—GEORGE J. CLARK, Clerk to the Board. NOTICE.—The Outram Road Board intend on Saturday, the 16th November, to levy a rate of sixpence in the pound over West Taieri subdivision, and of one shilling in the pound over Henley subdivision, on all rateable property in each subdivision for current year. The rate book lies for inspection at West Taieri Schoolhouse from this date.—GEORGE CROCKETT, Clerk to Board. 28th October, 1872.
GREY Road District
NOTICE.—The District Board of the Grey Road District hereby give notice of their intention to make a Special Rate in the Otakia subdivision of said district for the current year. The statement of the proposed rate will lie at the Greyton Schoolhouse for the inspection of ratepayers, in terms of the “Roads Ordinance 1871.”—R. SOMERVILLE, Clerk to the Board. East Taieri, 23rd October, 1872.
NOTICE.—Tenders wanted for metalling about 40 chains of the district road in the Saddle Hill subdivision. Specifications lie at the house of Mr. Wm. Jaffray, Saddle Hill Park. Mr. Jaffray will point out the portions of the road proposed to be metalled to intending contractors on Wednesday, 13th November, at 2 o’clock p.m. Tenders to be lodged with Mr. Jas. Allan, Chairman of the Board, or with the Clerk, on or before 20th November.—R. SOMERVILLE, Clerk, Grey Road Board. East Taieri, 23rd Oct., 1872.
NOTICE.—The Kuri Bush Road Board hereby give notice to William Barry, George Perkins, Alexander Dixon, James Reid, settlers, Kuri Bush district, and all to whom it may concern, that all fences obstructing roads adjoining their respective properties within the above district, must be removed by the space of ninety days from the twenty-third day of October, 1872, in accordance with clause 174 of Otago Roads Ordinance now in force.—GEORGE H. CHRISTIE, Clerk of Board. October 21, 1872.
IMPOUNDED ANIMALS
IMPOUNDED on the 17th day of October, 1872, by Duncan M’Lellan, Ranger, one white Bullock, branded A off rump, near rump; one red Bull, no visible brands; one white Heifer, branded RD off rump; owner unknown; for trespassing on Bushy Road, for which one shilling and sixpence driving is claimed, and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Palmerston, on Friday, 15th day of November, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—J. H. GILLIGAN, Poundkeeper of the Palmerston Pound.
IMPOUNDED on the 16th day of October, 1872, by John Muir, Shag Valley, one chestnut Horse, branded like A near shoulder; one bay Horse, branded MD conjoined near shoulder; owner unknown; trespassing on grass paddocks, for which six pounds damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above horses will be sold at the Public Pound, at Palmerston, on Friday, 15th day of November, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—J. H. GILLIGAN, Poundkeeper of the Palmerston Pound.
IMPOUNDED on the 12th day of October, 1872, by John Cameron, Esq., Spylaw Station, one red and white Heifer, branded AS off rump; owner unknown, for trespassing on Spylaw Station, for which six shillings and eightpence expenses are claimed; and in default of being released, the above Heifer will be sold at the Public Pound at Tapanui, on Friday, 15th day of November, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—A.
