PUBLIC NOTICE.
Under Section 1, Regulation IV.
WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Gold Field, described in the Schedule hereto, is for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners’ Rights in claims of the undermentioned size, viz.: One (1) acre for each holder of a Miner’s Right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres altogether.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfield, situate at Humphrey’s Gully (Clarks), about 10 yards below M’Grath’s registered dam No. 1321—comprising one acre more or less, and bounded on the north by old workings 110 yards, on the south by old workings 110 yards, on the west by old workings 44 yards, and on the east by old workings 44 yards.

INCENDIARISM.
Maliciously Setting Fire to a House.
£50 Reward.
WHEREAS on the morning of Wednesday, the 24th ultimo, a fire broke out in the unoccupied house of Arthur John Bamford, at Mornington, value £500, by which the same was totally destroyed: And whereas there is no doubt but that the fire was maliciously caused by some evil-disposed person or persons: Notice is hereby given, that a reward of Fifty Pounds will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago for such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the fire was originated.

Maliciously setting Fire to Two Stacks of Oats.
£100 REWARD.
WHEREAS, about 8 o’clock on the night of Tuesday, the 27th ultimo, Two Stacks of Oats, on the farm of Murdoch M’Lellan, Tokomairiro, containing about 2000 bushels, value £200, were both discovered to be on fire at the same time, although about 20 feet apart: And whereas there is reason to suspect that the said fire was maliciously caused by some evil disposed person or persons. Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £100 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago, for such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was originated.

BONUS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A WOOL-PACK AND SACK MANUFACTORY IN OTAGO.
THE Provincial Government being desirous of encouraging the manufacture of Wool-packs and Sack, is prepared to receive offers from parties willing to embark in the enterprise, and is further prepared to pay a bonus of £1000 as under:—
On the erection of buildings and machinery to the value of at least £2000—£500.
On the production of Sacks or Wool-packs to a value of not less than £500—£250.
On the production of a further quantity of Sacks or Wool-packs to the value of not less than £1000—£250.
The cloth in each case to be produced by machinery permanently established in the Province, and to be manufactured either wholly or to a large extent from Phormium Tenax, or other indigenous plants, or from other material grown in the Province.
Offers will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until the 10th of October, 1872, and should state the estimated cost and productive power of the machinery proposed to be erected, the date on which the same will be in operation, and that the parties are prepared to be bound in the sum of £1000 to produce sacks and woolpacks to the value of £1500 within three years from the date on which their offer is accepted.
The Government does not bind itself to accept any offer.
