cannot be conveniently carried on in the locality known as Cambridge’s Diggings during the Winter Season:

Now therefore I, hereby declare that between the first day of June and the thirtieth day of September, both days inclusive, in each and every year until further notice, all Mining Claims and Privileges lawfully held and enjoyed within that portion of the Otago Gold Field described in the schedule hereto, shall be protected within the meaning of the Regulations of the Otago Gold Field.

SCHEDULE.

All that portion of the Otago Gold Field situate on the Rock and Pillar Mountain, and known as Cambridge’s Diggings.


BONUS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A WOOL-PACK AND SACK MANUFACTORY IN OTAGO.

The Provincial Government being desirous of encouraging the manufacture of Wool-packs and Sacks, is prepared to receive offers from parties willing to embark in the enterprise, and is further prepared to pay a bonus of £1000 as under:-

On the erection of buildings and machinery to the value of at least £2000—£500.

On the production of Sacks or Wool-packs to a value of not less than £500—£250.

On the production of a further quantity of Sacks or Wool-packs to the value of not less than £1000—£250.

The cloth in each case to be produced by machinery permanently established in the Province, and to be manufactured either wholly or to a large extent from Phormium Tenax, or other indigenous plants, or from other material grown in the Province.

Offers will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until the 10th of October, 1872, and should state the estimated cost and productive power of the machinery proposed to be erected, the date on which the same will be in operation, and that the parties are prepared to be bound in the sum of £1000 to produce sacks and wool-packs to the value of £1500 within three years from the date on which their offer is accepted.

The Government does not bind itself to accept any offer.


BONUS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A GLASS BOTTLE MANUFACTORY.

The Provincial Government being desirous of encouraging the manufacture of Glass Bottles in Otago, is prepared to receive offers from parties willing to embark in the enterprise, and is further prepared to pay a bonus of £300, as under:-

On the erection of building and plant, of a value of not less than £500—£100.

On production of 100 gross of bottles—£100.

On production of a further quantity of 200 gross—£100.

Offers will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, and should state the estimated cost of the works proposed to be erected, the date on which the same will be in operation, and that the parties are prepared to be bound in the sum of £250 to produce 500 gross of Bottles within two years from the date on which the tender is accepted.

The Government does not bind itself to accept any offer.


BONUS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PAPER MANUFACTORY.

The Provincial Government being desirous of promoting the introduction and establishment of a Paper Manufactory in Otago, is prepared to receive offers from parties willing to embark in the enterprise; and is further prepared to pay a bonus of £1500 as under—such bonus to be in addition to a bonus of £2,500 offered by the General Government for the first 100 tons of printing paper produced by machinery permanently established and working in the Colony:—

On the erection of machinery of a value of not less than £3,000—£750.

On production of 20 tons of paper, of a value of not less than £500—£375.

On production of a further quantity of 30 tons, of a value of not less than £750—£375.

The paper to be produced by machinery permanently established and working in the Province.

Offers will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until the 10th of July, 1872, and should state the estimated cost and productive power of the machinery proposed to be erected, the date on which the same will be in operation, and that the parties are prepared to be bound in the sum of £1000 to produce 150 tons of paper within three years from the date on which their offer is accepted.

The Government does not bind itself to accept any offer.

16th August, Friday noon, a gelding will be sold at Otepopo Pound.

16th August, Friday noon, a mare will be sold at Leaning Rock, Clyde, Pound.


CLUTHA COAL FIELD.

TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Tuesday, the 14th August, 1872, from parties willing to lease the Clutha Coal Fields, and plant connected therewith, for the term of seven years. Tenders to state the amount of rent per annum, payable half-yearly in advance.

A list of the plant can be seen at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works, Dunedin, and at the Police Station, Balclutha.

For further information apply at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.


PAYMENT TO BE MADE IN CASH.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 20th August, 1872, for Contract No. 656.—Metalling 80 chains of road “Oamaru to Waitaki.”

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the Office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin; and at the Police Station, Oamaru.

Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 656.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
