TO TEACHERS.—An Examination of Candidates
for the Education Board’s Certificates of Competency will be held at the Education Office, Dunedin
upon Wednesday the 10th and Thursday the 11th of
July, 1872. Printed copies of the Board’s Regulations
may be obtained on application.

TO LIBRARY COMMITTEES.

LIBRARY Committees are informed that a large
order for Public Library Books has been sent to
Britain. Priority of choice in the selection of the
books on their arrival here will be strictly determined
by the dates on which the several Committees forward
their subscriptions to this Office, or submit their claims
to free grants in respect of moneys expended by them
discretion the purchase of library books.

APPLICATIONS are invited for the offices of Head
Master, Second Master, and School Mistress for
the Invercargill Grammar School about to be estab-
lished.

The salary of the Head Master will be not less than
£300 per annum, with residence. The salary of the
Second Master not less than £175 per annum, and that
of the School Mistress not less than £100 per annum.
The successful applicants will be expected to be in
Invercargill to commence their duties after the Christ-
mas vacation.

Applications must be received not later than the
first week in September, 1872, and be accompanied by
testimonials and references, to be addressed to the
“Chairman, Invercargill School Committee, Inver-
cargill, New Zealand.”

ABSTRACT FROM PREVIOUS GAZETTES.

12th July, Friday noon, 2 cows and 2 calves will be
sold at Palmerston Pound.

12th July, Friday noon, a bull will be sold at
Otepopo Pound.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the
Secretary for Lands and Works until noon of
Friday, 5th July, for
Contract No. 650—Replanking of Bridge over the
Waterloo River.

Printed specifications may be seen, and forms of
tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads
and Works, Dunedin, and at the Police Station, Wai-
hola.

Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works, Tender
for Contract No. 650.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the
tender of any Gilder.

BLUESKIN Road District.—Tenders are invited to
be lodged on or before Wednesday, 10th July,
for about thirty chains of Road Formation, according
to plans and specifications by Mr. E. R. Usher, Road
Engineer. They may be inspected at his office, Princes
street, Dunedin, and also at the residence of Mr. J.
Macfarlane; Commissioners for Blueskin Road District.
Tenders may be lodged either with the Engineer or the
Commissioner. The lowest or any tender not necessa-
rily accepted. 28th June, 1872.

NOTICE.—Deborah Bay District Road Board.—
Tenders will be received by the undersigned,
till noon of Saturday, the 6th July, 1872, for Forming
and Clearing Roads, about 40 chains. Intending
Contractors will be shown the proposed works, by

EDUCATION RESERVES, SOUTHLAND.

APPLICATIONS will be received by Mr. John H.
Baker, Survey Office, Invercargill, from persons
wishing to lease any of the Reserves as formerly adver-
tised.

Copies of the Otago Regulations, and conditions for
the Leasing of Education Reserves can be obtained
from Mr. Baker, Invercargill.

NOTICE is hereby given that section 37, block I,
Clarendon District, containing 63 acres 2 roods;
and sections 49 and 52, block III, Akatore District,
containing respectively 93 acres 7 poles, and 114
acres 2 roods and 29 poles; and section 2 of 20, block I,
Kaitangata District, containing 40 acres, will be offered
for sale by public auction, at Mr. Capstick’s rooms,
Tokomairiro, on Friday, the 12th day of July next, at
noon, at the upset price of 10s per acre. Immediately
thereafter, section 16, block I, Clarendon District,
containing 51 acres 2 roods 15 poles, will be offered for
sale by auction, at the upset price of £1 per acre, with
survey expenses added.

NOTICE is hereby given that section 5, block II,
St. Bathans District (Roman Catholic church
site), will be offered for sale by public auction, at the
Survey Office Naseby, on Friday, the 19th day of July,
next, at noon, as land of special value, at the upset
price of £5 per acre.

FRIDAY, 12th day of July, 1872.

NOTICE is hereby given that section 69A, block
XIV, Glenkenich District, containing 23 acres
and 34 poles, will be offered for sale by public auction,
at the Survey Office, Lawrence, on Friday, the 12th
day of July next at noon, at the upset price of 20s per
acre, subject to valuation of £850, and survey expenses
added, £9 3s.

RUN FOR SALE.—23,000 ACRES.

MONDAY, 15th day of July, at noon.

AIKAWA STATION.—Notice is hereby given
that the lease for 10 years of Run No. 177,
containing 23,000 acres, will be offered for sale by
public auction, at the Land Office, Dunedin, on
Monday, the 15th day of July 1872, at noon, in terms
of clause 78 of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1856, as
the upset price of halfpenny per acre. Rental to be
assessment of 3s 6d per head on cattle depastured.
Power reserved to increase assessment, if understocked.
Lease to commence 6th February, 1873, and be termi-
nable at 12 months’ notice.

NOTICE is Hereby Given, that the Switzers Mansion
site, containing 2a or 30p, being section 6 block
