UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO.

THE SESSION for 1872, will be opened on Thursday, 1st May, with an introductory Lecture (open to the Public), by Professor Black, at 7 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday following, the Matriculation Examinations will be held, beginning at 10 a.m.

On Monday, 5th May, the different classes will be opened as follows:—

  • Greek and English, 8 a.m.
  • Latin, 9 a.m.
  • Greek, 10 a.m.
  • Latin, 11 a.m.
  • Mathematics, 4.30 p.m.
  • Natural Philosophy, 5.30 p.m.
  • Chemistry and Mineralogy, 2 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that the precept has been issued by the General Road Board, authorising the collection of the Highway Rate of the above district, for the year 1871-2, ratepayers are requested to pay their respective rates to the undersigned on or before the 17th April, 1872.—JAMES SAMUEL, Collector.

Innes, Ranger, one yellow and white Heifer, branded like I on the near ribs; one red and white Heifer, no visible brand; one red Cow, blotch brand near rump; red and white Calf, no visible brand; owners unknown; for trespassing on Waikouaiti Hundred, for which 2s. each damage is claimed, and in default of being released, the above Cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at West Hawksbury, on Friday, the 26th day of April, at 12 o’clock noon.—THOMAS LATHAM, Poundkeeper of the West Hawksbury Pound.


IMPOUNDED

on the 5th day of April, by J. Joseph, West Taieri, one white and red poley Cow, branded like CW off rump; owner unknown; for trespassing in J. Joseph’s garden, West Taieri, for which no damage is claimed, and in default of being released, the above Cow will be sold at the Public Pound, at West Taieri.
