NOTICE.—In conformity with Section 23 of the Mining Leases Regulations, I hereby give notice that the application of James Craig and Co., for a mining lease of ten (10) acres of land on the dividing range between the Marewhenua and Otekaike rivers, made on May 9, 1871, has been withdrawn, and that such ground is open to persons holding Miners’ Rights or Business Licences, or to applicants for leases, as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for.

PAUPER Funeral Contract for Current Year.—The above Contract with Mr. James R. Spicer has been cancelled, and an arrangement has been entered into with Mr. Walter G. Geddes, who is the contractor for year 1872, to perform the service for the remainder of this year.

Schedules for tenderers will be placed in the hands of the Gaoler, Invercargill, as soon as the scale of rations is adjusted by the General Government.

The Government will not be bound to accept any tender.

STEAM SERVICE.

Tenders will be received at this office on or before the 16th January next, for monthly steam service between Dunedin, Hokitika and Greymouth, calling when required off Hollyford River (Martin’s Bay), and at Preservation Inlet.

Vessels may proceed, via Cook’s Straits, returning through Foveaux Straits, or vice versa, at tender’s option.

FLAGSTAFF ROAD BOARD.—Tenders will be received by the undersigned up to noon of Saturday, 9th of December, for road formation. Messrs. Jolly and Nicol will point out the works at 2 o’clock p.m. on Friday, 1st December.

THE HOUKA ROAD DISTRICT.—Notice.—Tenders will be received by the Road Board in the above-named district, for certain road work, up till 7th December, 1871.

Tenders will be received until noon of Monday, the 11th December, for Contract No. 74, Survey of Otatan Township, Aparima Hundred, about 400 acres, into sections—from ¼ to 10 acres each.

Tenders to be endorsed “Tender for Contract No. 74,” and accompanied by a deposit of 10 per cent.

WAKARI ROAD BOARD.—Tenders are requested for repairs to road from Maowhill to Sunnyside; also for road to Menlove’s slaughter yard, and Bush reserve. PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.—Tenders are invited for reforming ten or twelve chains, more or less, of roadway. John Wishart will show the work.

SANDYMOUNT ROAD DISTRICT.—Tenders wanted for the following works:—1st, Widening roadway, top Seal Point Road; 2nd, Cutting hill on same roadline.

Specifications can be seen at the house of Geo. Boyles, who will show the works at 10 o’clock on the 14th December.

3rd, Cutting hill on the Sandymount road, and metalling the same; 4th, Re-forming, widening and metalling portions of same road; 5th, Clearing of bush, and forming portions of No. 1 road.

The Inspectors will meet contractors at the Lime Kilns, and show works and specifications at 12 o’clock on the 14th December.
