Road Board Notices and Impounded Livestock




BUSHY ROAD BOARD.—Notice, it is the intention of the Bushy Road Board to apply to the

General Road Board, in October, for authority to levy a highway rate of five pence (5d.) per acre for the year 1870. The Assessment Roll will lie with me for inspection for fourteen days from this date. August 27, 1870.—THOMAS MUIR, Clerk and Collector.

ALLDAY ROAD DISTRICT.—The Board hereby notifies its intention of applying, at the October sitting of the General Road Board, for leave and authority to levy a Highway Rate of 4d. (fourpence) per acre on all lands in the district.

The Assessment Roll has been revised, and will lie for inspection of the ratepayers at the Schoolhouse for 14 days from date hereof.—ALEX. PIRIE, Clerk. Otepopo, August 31, 1870.

HERBERT ROAD DISTRICT.—The Board hereby give notice that they purpose applying to the General Board at the October sitting, for authority to levy a Highway Rate of one shilling per pound of annual value on all lands, houses, mills, &c., in the district.

The Revised Assessment Roll may be inspected by ratepayers at the Schoolhouse for 14 days from the date of this notice.—ALEX. PIRIE, Clerk. Otepopo, 31st August, 1870.

WANGALOA ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given, that it is the intention of this Board to apply to the General Road Board, at its next meeting, for authority to levy a Highway Rate of three (3) pence per acre on all lands liable to be rated in the District.—ROBERT NEILL, Clerk to Wangaloa Road Board. 29th August, 1870.

HOUKA LOCAL ROAD BOARD.—Notice. Application by the above Road Board will be made to the General Road Board, at its meeting on the first Thursday in October, 1870, for permission to levy a Highway Rate of One Shilling in the Pound for the current year of all lands, houses, and buildings in the above district.

The Assessment Roll can be inspected by ratepayers for fourteen days from 6th September, 1870, at my house.—WM. DALLAS, Clerk to Board.

FINEGAND ROAD BOARD NOTICE.—Application has been made by the above Board to the General Road Board for authority to levy a rate of One Shilling in the Pound on all lands, houses, &c., in the district. The Assessment Roll for the above district may be inspected by the ratepayers for fourteen days from the date of this notice at my house, Balclutha.—JOHN DALZIEL, Clerk to the Board. Balclutha, 5th September, 1870.

TOTARA.—Notice is hereby given, that application will be made to the General Board by the Local Board of Totara for leave to levy future rates in the said district on the annual value of all property in the district—vide Roads Ordinance 1865, Section XXXI.—JOHN HARDY, Clerk to the Board.

TOTARA.—Notice is hereby given, that the Assessment Roll of the Totara District lies at the residence of Mr. William Derrett, Springfield, Totara, for the inspection of all persons interested therein, on all lawful days between the hours of ten a.m. and four p.m., up to the 28th day of September instant. And notice is also given that application will be made to the General Board, at its next statutory meeting, for the issue of a precept for the Highway Rate for the current year.—JOHN HARDY, Clerk to the Board.

TOKOMAIRIRO POUND.—The six Bullocks and two Heifers, branded P, at Tokomairiro Pound, are now claimed.—JAMES GOODALL, Poundkeeper.

IMPOUNDED on the 31st day of August, 1870, by W. H. S. Roberts, Esq., Ardmore Station, one red bullock, white back, white on belly, branded like D C O near back, P near rump, no other visible brands; one white or light strawberry bullock, red on neck, piece out of top of near ear, branded G M near rump; supposed to belong to Menlove, Dunedin; for trespassing on Ardmore Station, for which seven shillings damages each are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Tapanui, on Friday, the 30th day of September, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon.—ALEX. IMPOUNDED on the fifth day of September, 1870, by the police, one chestnut horse, branded like C off shoulder, white face, for trespassing on township, for which the said horse will be sold; and, in default of being released, the above horse will be sold at the Public Pound, at Milton, on Friday, the 30th day of September, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon.—JAS. GOODALL, Poundkeeper of the Milton Pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 2nd day of September, 1870, by Mr. Robert M’Auley: one light-bay horse, branded 6 near shoulder and 9 off shoulder; owner unknown; for trespassing on fenced land, for which 2s 6d is claimed; and in default of being released, the above horse will be sold at the Public Pound at Oamaru, on Friday, the 30th of September, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon.—FREDK. COLLIS, Poundkeeper of the Oamaru Pound.

ON and after the 1st October, all roads through Section 50, or application 1316, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri District, will be closed.
