ROAD BOARDS

MEADOWBANK ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given, that the above-named Road Board intend to apply to the General Road Board for authority to levy a Highway Rate in October, 1870, of threepence (3d.) per acre; and the Assessment Roll is now ready, and can be inspected for fourteen days from date, at my house.—John Keen, Clerk and Collector. August 17, 1870.

NORTH EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.—Notice is hereby given, that a precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate in the above-named District, having been issued by the General Road Board; Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the fifth day of September, 1870.—Henry Duncan, Clerk and Collector. North-East Valley, 4th August, 1870.

MAUNGATUA ROAD DISTRICT.—The Local Road Board hereby notify their intention to apply at the next sitting of the General Road Board, on the first Thursday of September, 1870, for authority to levy a Highway Rate of one shilling in the £ on all lands, houses, &c., in the district.

The Assessment Roll for the above district may be inspected by the ratepayers at the Schoolhouse, Maungatua, for fourteen days from the date of this notice.—James Sim, Clerk to the Board. Maungatua, 1st August, 1870.

MOUNT ROYAL ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given, that the above-named Road Board intend to apply to the General Road Board for authority to levy a Highway Rate in October, 1870, of threepence (3d.) per acre. And, the Assessment Roll is now ready, and can be inspected for fourteen days from date, at my house.—John Kean, Clerk and Collector. Palmerston 30th July, 1870.

WAIWERA ROAD DISTRICT.—The Local Board hereby notify their intention of applying at the sitting of the General Road Board, to be held on the first Thursday of September, 1870 for authority to levy a Highway Rate of threepence (3d.) per acre on all lands within the District. The Assessment Roll can be inspected at the Schoolhouse, Waiwera, for fourteen days from this date.—William Hay, Clerk and Collector. Waiwera, 5th August, 1870.

PORT OBELLO ROAD DISTRICT.—The Local Road Board hereby notify their intention of applying to the next sitting of the General Road Board, on the first Thursday of September, 1870, for authority to levy an acreage rate of one shilling per acre in Hooper’s Inlet and Papanui Wards, and sixpence an acre in Arthur’s Seat Ward. The Assessment Roll for the above District is now ready, and may be inspected by the Ratepayers at my house, Hooper’s Inlet, fourteen days from the date of this notice.—Joseph Young, Clerk. 4th August, 1870.

HIGHCLIFF LOCAL ROAD BOARD.—The Assessment Roll is lying for the inspection of all whom it may concern, at the house of Mr. James Beattie, for fourteen days from this date.

It is the intention of the Highcliff Local Board to apply to the General Road Board, at its next meeting, for leave to levy a rate of 1s. per acre.—Thos. Graham, Clerk. 10th August, 1870.

NOTICE.—The Warepa Local Board Road Trustees hereby give notice to all whom it may concern that unless the Road Rates in arrear be paid in on or before 1st prox., legal proceedings will be immediately instituted without any further notice whatever.—T. H. Meeking, Collector. Warepa, August 2nd, 1870.

FLAGSTAFF ROAD DISTRICT.—The Rate Roll is now ready and lies for inspection at my house, for fourteen days from this date, every lawful day from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.—D. McQuilkan, Clerk to Flagstaff Local Board. Flagstaff, 2nd August, 1870.

GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of the Otago Gold Fields, additional to those already appointed, shall be held as follows:—

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Lawrence, on the second Tuesday in October next.

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Naseby, on the second Wednesday in November next.

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Clyde, on the Monday next after the second Wednesday in November next.

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Queenstown, on the Monday second after the second Wednesday in November next.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

CLARENDON DISTRICT.—Notice.—Parties in arrear for Road Rates for the year 1869-70 are requested to pay their respective amounts to me, at my house, Lake Waipori, within 21 days from this notice; otherwise legal proceedings will be taken to recover the same.—Robt. B. Twelftree, Clerk and Collector. Lake Waipori, 2nd August, 1870.

KAHIKU ROAD BOARD.—The Local Road Board hereby give notice that it is their intention to make application to the General Road Board, on the first Thursday of September, 1870, for authority to levy a Highway Rate of threepence per acre for the current year. The revised Assessment Roll may be seen at the Schoolhouse, for fourteen days after the 11th inst.—T. Paterson, Clerk. Kaihiku, August 4th, 1870.

IMPOUNDED

Impounded on the sixth day of August, 1870, by L. Moore, Shag Valley Station, one bay gelding, no distinct brand, star on forehead; one bay mare, no distinct brand; one roan gelding, brand like B on near shoulder; one chestnut filly, no distinct brand, star and snip; one brown gelding, star on forehead, indistinct brand on near shoulder; owners unknown; for trespassing on Shag Valley Run, for which for first two £1 each, and other three 15s. each damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Hawksbury, on the second day of September, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon.—Archibald Valentine, Poundkeeper of the Hawksbury Pound.
