TOMAHAWK ROAD BOARD.—Wanted, Tenders for Forming about 8 Chains, more or less, of Road Line in the above-named district. Intending contractors will meet upon Wednesday, 28th April. All tenders to be in by Monday, 25th April, 1870.

TENDERS will be received by the undersigned, till noon, April 30th, for the following road works in the Deborah Bay Road District:—
1st. Forming 30 chains, more or less, of road.
2nd. Widening Track from Sandspit to Murdering Beach, and Clearing Bush from a road line.
Contractors, by meeting at the house of the undersigned, on Thursday, 28th April, at 9 o’clock a.m., will be shown the work.

HERBERT.—Tenders are invited up to April 23rd, for Contract No. 1, namely: for forming 24 chains of the Glenfern Road, Herbert.
Plans and specifications may be seen at the School-house, Otepopo, and at my office, Moray Place, Dunedin.—JOHN HARP, Engineer to the Board.
WANTED A SURFACEMAN, for the North Taieri Road District. Offers may be left with Mr. John Findlay, on or before Saturday next, the 16th inst. By order of the North Taieri Road Board.—THOS. CULLING, Clerk to Local Board. Dated 11th April, 1870.

REMARKS:—
Arches of clear white streamers, having all their terminations in the eastern and western points of the horizon, and forming beautiful and symmetrical bands of light across the whole sky, seen on the evening of 18th. Moon near full at the time, and not far from the eastern termination of the bands—no clouds.
Aurora seen on evening of 22nd.
Zodiacal Light seen on evenings of 22nd and 25th.
NOTE.—The results of all the self-registering instruments were recorded on the dates above given and therefore occurred during the preceding 24 hours.
HENRY SKY.
IMMIGRATION MONEY.—The Police are the only persons authorised to take payment of Passage Money, outside the Government Buildings, Dunedin.
Instances have come to the knowledge of the Police of a person in Dunedin having received money from Immigrants for the purpose of paying the same to the Government, but who neglected to do so until the amount was again demanded from the Immigrant.
Immigrants, therefore, who have paid passage money to their Agents or Guarantees, or who have left money in the hands of their employers for the purpose of being handed to the Government, and who have not received their bills, or a proper receipt, are requested to communicate with me immediately, giving the dates and amounts so paid or left.

A SPECIAL MEETING of the Education Board will be held on Thursday, the 21st April, 1870, in the Provincial Government Buildings, Dunedin, at 12 o’clock, noon.—JOHN HISLOP, Secretary.
A MEETING will be held at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, at 10 o’clock of Thursday, 23rd April current, to consider the application of John Lance to Shadwell Kean for an Auctioneer’s License. His certificate is signed by W. G. Farrer, William M’Beth, John F. Herbert, Archibald M’Kinlay, William Jameison, A. Stewart, M. D., William Hayes.
EDUCATION MEETING.—The Inhabitants of Brighton and vicinity are requested to meet at the School-house, upon Friday, the 22nd April, at half-past 7 o’clock, p.m., to elect a School Committee for the current year.

THE Otago Education Board invites applications for the following-mentioned appointments:—1st. A LADY PRINCIPAL for the Otago Provincial School for the Higher Education of girls; salary, for the present, £250 per annum, with free residence and accomodation for boarders. 2nd. A GOVERNESS for the same Institution; salary, £150 per annum. And 3rd. A COMMERCIAL MASTER for the Otago High School; salary, £300 per annum.
The Lady Principal will be expected to receive girls as boarders at fifty guineas per annum. In the event of the successful candidate for the Commercial Mastership being unmarried, he will receive a salary of £250 with free board and residence at the High School Boarding Establishment.
Candidates are requested to specify all the subjects they are qualified to teach. Applications with Testimonials will be received by the undersigned till the 1st of June, 1870. Additional information will be furnished on application.
