UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO, N. Z.

THE COUNCIL of the University of Otago will shortly appoint two Professors to the following-mentioned Chairs:—1st. Classics, to include Greek, Latin, and the English Language and Literature; 2nd. Mathematics and Natural Philosophy. Salary of each Professor £600 per annum with the Class Fees, which are fixed at three guineas per term. Candidates must be graduates of some established and recognised University.

Applications and testimonials will be received by the undersigned till the 1st of June, 1870. Additional information will be furnished on application.

Notice is hereby given that the following allotments of Rural Land will be offered for sale by public auction as land of special value, in the Land Office, Dunedin, on the 20th day of April next, at noon, at the upset prices affixed:

NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that Section 5, Block LV, Oamaru Township (previously reserved for limestone), will be offered for sale by public auction by Mr. S. Shrimski at the Court-house there, on Monday, the 2nd day of May next, at noon, at the upset price of £12 10s.

Section 43, Block II, Dunedin and East Taieri district, containing 39a. 0r. 16p., will be offered for sale by auction at the Land Office, Dunedin, on the 2nd day of May next, at noon, at the upset price of 2s. per acre.

Of the Township of Lawrence, sections 1 to 7, 14 to 16, Block XXXI (formerly reserved for coal) will be offered for sale by public auction by Mr. M. Nicholson at the Court-house, Lawrence, on the 3rd day of May next, at noon, at the upset price of £2 per section, and subject to valuation for improvements effected thereon.

BUSH RESERVES.

Sealed offers will be received at this office until noon of Monday, 23rd May, for leasing for a term of 21 years from 1st June, 1870, the undermentioned Bush Reserves, under certain conditions as to planting &c., which may be seen on and after the 1st May at the Police Stations at West Taieri, Balclutha, Port Molyneux, Waihola, Tokomairiro, Hampden, and at the Land Office, Dunedin.

The offers are to be made by filling in the printed form of lease (which can be obtained at the places abovementioned). The prices at which the different descriptions of timber are to be supplied to the public are to be enclosed in an envelope marked “Offer for Lease of Bush Reserves,” addressed to the Chief Commissioner of the Waste Land Board, Dunedin.

The person whose tender may be accepted will require to name two sureties to the satisfaction of the Waste Land Board, who will enter into a bond in the sum of £50 for the due fulfillment of the conditions of the lease.

The lowest or any offer not necessarily accepted.
