PROCLAMATION
Setting apart certain lands in the Province of Otago as a site for a Settlement for colonization at Martin’s Bay, under the “Otago Settlements Act 1869.”
By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago have, under and by virtue of the second section of the “Otago Settlements Act 1869,” recommended that the lands hereafter described should be set apart as a site for a settlement for colonization at Martin’s Bay under the provisions of the said Act; and whereas the said lands are an eligible site for a settlement for colonization, and it is expedient that the said lands should be so set apart accordingly.
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf by the said Act, do hereby set apart the lands hereafter described as a site for a settlement for colonization at Martin’s Bay (that is to say):—
All that area containing 100,000 acres, situate on the West Coast of the Province of Otago, and bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Awarua River, and proceeding in an easterly direction along the boundary line of the Province of Canterbury, thirty-three thousand six hundred (33,600) links; thence in a southerly direction, forty-thousand four hundred (40,400) links; thence in an easterly direction, nineteen thousand (19,000) links; thence in a southerly direction, one hundred and six thousand four hundred (106,400) links; thence in a south south-easterly direction, eighty-one thousand six hundred (81,600) links; thence in a southerly direction, twenty-eight thousand (28,000) links; thence in a westerly direction, thirty-four thousand (34,000) links; thence in a northerly direction, thirty-four thousand eight hundred (34,800) links; thence in a north north-westerly direction, eighty-seven thousand two hundred (87,200) links; thence in a westerly direction, twenty-seven thousand six hundred (27,600) links; thence in a northerly direction, seventy thousand eight hundred (70,800) links; thence in a westerly direction, nine thousand six hundred (9,600) links; thence in a northerly direction to the Ocean, thirty-six thousand eight hundred (36,800) links; thence in a north-easterly direction along high-water mark of the Ocean, forty-eight thousand (48,000) links, to the Awarua River the starting point; excepting out of the above description Skipper’s Range, as delineated on the Map of the said Province deposited in the Survey Office at Dunedin.
Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this fifth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have, under and by virtue of Section 62 of the “Otago Waste Lands Act 1865,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be reserved as a site for a Hospital at Waikaka; and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose:
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described a Reserve for the purpose of a Hospital at Waikaka.
All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement four (4) acres, more or less, being block numbered XXVI on the Chief Surveyor’s Record Map of Waikaka Township: commencing from a point opposite the south-west corner peg of block XVI, and distant therefrom one hundred (100) links; thence along Elswick street in a north-easterly direction seven hundred and twenty (720) links; thence in a south-easterly direction five hundred and sixty (560) links; thence in a south-westerly direction along the Waikaka river seven hundred and sixty (760) links; thence in a north-westerly direction five hundred and sixty (560) links, to the starting point.
Dated at Dunedin, this 5th day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.
