P U B L I C N O T I C E, under Section 6 of the Otago Goldfields Rules and Regulations.—Sufficient proof having been shown to me that that portion of the Otago Goldfields described in the Schedule hereunto annexed has been fairly tested, and is either wholly or for the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners Rights in claims of the undermentioned size, namely:—One acre for each holder of a Miners Right; provided that no block claim shall exceed more than six acres altogether.

Schedule.
All that area lying between terrace-edge and terrace-edge, constituting the bed of Skippers Creek, including both the right and left hand branches, and extending on the one hand from the junction of Skippers Creek with the Shotover to a point one and a-half miles above the Scandinavian Engine-house, and on the other from the Forks up to a point near the source of the Mountain Race where the left hand branch begins to broaden out upon shingle:
All that area comprised within the following boundary, viz.:—Four acres of land commencing at a point 300 yards from the junction of Swiper’s Creek with the Arrow River, and fronting Swiper’s Creek, being 894 links by 447 links.
T H E following Rules and Regulations have been submitted to the Superintendent and Executive Council in terms of the “Cemeteries Reserves Management Ordinance 1864,” and are published for general information.
WEST TAIERI CEMETERY RULES AND REGULATIONS,
Made in pursuance of Section V. of the “Cemetery Reserves Management Ordinance 1864,” for the management of the Public Cemetery at West Taieri.

The managers shall divide a portion of the Cemetery into two classes, viz:—

Class 1st being ground of which the perpetual and exclusive right may be acquired, but the purchasers shall not have the right of enclosing it with a fence or erecting a headstone or monument thereon unless with the consent of the managers as stated in Clause 7 of the “Cemetery Reserves Management Ordinance 1864,” a portion of land of this class shall be staked off in lots for single graves, 8 feet by 4 feet. These lots shall be sold: one lot for £1, two lots for £1 10s.

Class 2nd being a portion of ground which has been set aside for the interment of such persons as are not purchasers of, and have not acquired a right to private ground. On ground of this class no monument or memorial whatever shall be allowed, and no grave shall, under any circumstances, be opened for any new interment sooner than after the expiry of five years from the time of the first or last interment as the case may be.
GENERAL REGULATIONS.

All graves shall be six feet deep, but in the event of the purchasers of private ground desiring greater depth, an extra charge of 3s. per foot shall be made.

The managers shall provide all necessary furniture and attendance for properly conducting interments.

Any purchasers of private ground in which no interment shall have taken place, may transfer his or her interest in said ground to any other person, upon payment being made to the Clerk for the time being a fee of 5s. for such transfer.

A plan of the Cemetery shall be prepared shewing particularly the lots so laid off together with the numbers thereof.

The Clerk for the time being shall keep a book in which he shall enter from time to time the number of every lot sold, the name of the purchaser thereof, together with the date of the sale of the same, and shall keep a record of the burials in the Cemetery.

The Clerk for the time being shall receive the purchase money for the sale of such lots and shall give a receipt for the same, which receipt shall be held conclusive evidence of the purchase and selection of the lots mentioned therein.

In all cases of intended interment, the person having the management or control of the same shall apply to the Clerk for the time being for warrant for such interment which warrant the said Clerk is hereby authorised to grant upon payment to him of the fol.
