NOTIFICATION.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that by virtue of the powers vested in me by the "Impounding Ordinance, 1862," I have established a Public Pound on part of section numbered twenty-one, block thirteen, Glenkenich District, in the Province of Otago, and that I have appointed
George Williams,
of Glenkenich aforesaid, settler, to be Keeper of the said Pound.

IT IS HEREBY NOTIFIED that a writ issued for the election of a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for Tokomairiro District, in the place of Thomas Muir, Esquire, has been returned with a certificate to the effect that

has been duly elected.

IN conformity with the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a Lease for gold mining purposes of Crown lands to the undermentioned—
Edward Brooks, Enterprise Alluvial Company.—Section 4, block 7, Skippers Creek, containing five acres.

IN conformity with the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a Lease for gold mining purposes, of Crown lands to the undermentioned, subject, however to the following conditions:—That no interference is made with the water races legally held at the date of the application, without the express sanction of the owners thereof; and, if necessary, that the applicants bind themselves to carry said races across the ground by artificial means; and that they take the onus of all casualties to said races, brought about by their mining operations—

from Minutes of the General Road Board, 4th February, 1869.
Te Houka Assessment.
"Mr Haggit gave notice that at a Special Meeting he would move that the resolution arrived at on 17th November, 1868, be revoked, and that the Rate as applied for by the Local Board be sanctioned."

"Te Houka.—Reconsideration of application for Rate of 3d. per acre: The objection to same being that the assessment should be on the annual value and not on the acreage system.
Resolved to sustain the objection. The assessment to be on the annual value system, as per 31st section of the ‘The Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865.’"
