CITY OF DUNEDIN.

NOMINATIONS OF COUNCILLORS AND AUDITORS FOR THE MUNICIPAL YEAR ENDING 1st AUGUST, 1869.

I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, That the Nomination of Candidates for Election to the several offices of Councillors and Auditors, for the year ending 1st August, 1869, will be declared on Tuesday, the 28th day of July instant, at the hour of noon, at the Terrace of the Provincial Council Chambers.

The Councillors retiring by rotation are:—

  • Councillor John Griffen, for South Ward;
  • Job Wain, jun., for High Ward;
  • Benjamin Bagley, for Bell Ward; and
  • Robert S. Dods, for Leith Ward.

Nominations must be in form of Schedule D of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865,” and be lodged at the office of the Town Clerk, where blank forms may be had on or before noon of the day herein fixed for the declaration.

One (1) Councillor to be elected for each Ward, and two (2) Auditors to be elected for the City.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Under Section 1, Regulation V, of the Otago Gold Fields Rules and Regulations:—

Sufficient proof having been shown to me that that portion of the Otago Gold Field described in the Schedule hereunto annexed has been fairly tested, and is either wholly or for the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of miners’ rights in claims of the undermentioned size, namely:— One acre for each holder of a miner’s right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six acres altogether.

SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

All that portion of the Otago Gold Field comprised within the following boundaries, viz.—Commencing at the junction of the Sonora Creek with the Clutha River; thence by a straight line to Cairnmuir Peak; thence by a line due west to the Carrick Range; thence by Carrick Range to Kawarau River; thence by Kawarau and Clutha Rivers to the starting-point.

SOUTHLAND RAILWAYS.

TENDERS will be received at this office until noon of the 12th of August, 1868, for the Invercargill Contract, for completion of about Three Miles of the Oreti Railway.

Drawings and specifications may be seen at the Superintendent’s Office, Invercargill; or, at the office of Mr. T. Paterson, Engineer, Dunedin, on and after the 15th July instant.

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any of the tenders.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

Notice is hereby given, that the Partnership heretofore existing between us, the undersigned George Gunn and John M’Kellar, as sheep farmers and graziers, at the Tapanui Station, being Run No. 163, Otago, under the style or firm of “Gunn and M’Kellar,” was dissolved, on the twenty-seventh day of May now last past, by mutual consent. All debts due to and owing by the late firm will be received and paid by the undersigned John M’Kellar.

NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that Monday, the third day of August next, at ten o’clock in the forenoon, in the Supreme Court House, Dunedin, has this day been fixed for the final examination of Marmaduke Constantine, of Dunedin, Flax-dresser, a bankrupt, at which place and time application will be made for his final Order of Discharge.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the above-named William Lowder Lees, and John Crowther, have this day been adjudged bankrupts, and that a meeting of their creditors, for the purpose of appointing a Trustee or Trustees of their estate and effects, will be held at the Supreme Court House, Dunedin, on Tuesday, the twenty-eighth day of July, 1868, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, at which time and place the said bankrupts are to surrender.
