NOTICE TO LOCAL BOARDS OF ROAD TRUSTEES—All objections to Rates having to be lodged in this office, clerks are requested to apply for same in time, that they may be laid before the Commissioners appointed by the General Board to hear such objections.

IMMIGRATION TO OTAGO—Urgent representations having been made to the Provincial Government as to the scarcity of agricultural labourers, notice is hereby given to those employers who, through their friends and connections in the mother country, can hire suitable labourers, that the Government is prepared to issue passage orders from Glasgow to the Province on payment of £10 per statute adult.
The same facilities will also be given to others than agricultural employers who may wish to engage their own workpeople in the Home country; the only stipulation which the Government makes in either case is, that public aid shall be strictly confined to importation of bona fide labour suitable to the actual requirements of the Province.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES—In view of an order being shortly sent to Britain by the Government for another supply of Public Library Books, the Committees of Public Libraries throughout the Province are invited to forward to the undersigned, as soon as possible, lists of such books as they may wish to be procured.

EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS—Notice is hereby given, that the Annual Statutory Meeting of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in each Educational District, established under the provisions of the “Education Ordinance, 1864,” for the election of a new School Committee, will be held upon Monday, the 13th day of January, 1868, at Seven o’clock p.m., at the following mentioned places respectively—viz:
At Dunedin, in the Middle District School-house, between York place and Dowling street.
At East Clutha, in the Main District School-house.
At Tokomairiro, in the Main District School-house, Milton.
At Inch Clutha, in the Main District School-house.
At Wakari, in the Main District School-house; and in the respective School-houses, or Buildings used as School-houses, in the following mentioned districts—viz., Port Chalmers, Portobello, North East Harbor, Anderson’s Bay, North East Valley, Mornington, Caversham, Green Island, East Taieri, Saddle Hill, North Taieri, Lake Waipori, Waihola, Balclutha, Warepa, Kaitangata, Blueskin, Waikouaiti, Hampden, Otepopo, Oamaru, Lawrence, Queenstown, Waihola Gorge, West Taieri, Maungatua, Clyde, Alexandra, Naseby (Mount Ida), Palmerston, and Waitahuna.

EDUCATIONAL DISTRICTS—Notice is hereby given, That the Education Board has formed the localities of Clyde, Alexandra, Naseby, Waitahuna, Palmerston, Maungatua, and Waihola Gorge respectively into Educational Districts, under the provisions of the Education Ordinance, 1864, and that in consequence of the formation of the localities of Maungatua and Waihola Gorge into separate Educational Districts, the boundaries of the Educational Districts of West Taieri, Lake Waipori, Waihola, and Tokomairiro have been altered. The following is a description of the abovementioned Educational Districts. For description of District see Advertisement Sheet of 18th December.

Township of Greytown, East Taieri
178 allotments in the Township of Greytown will be offered for sale, by public auction, at the Kent Hotel, Greytown, on Monday, the 13th day of January, 1868, at 12 o’clock, noon. Upset prices will be stated next week in Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and the remainder at £12 10s.
Township of Outram, West Taieri
The following allotments in the Township of Outram will be offered for sale, by public auction, in the Court House, Outram, on Tuesday, the 14th day of January, 1868, at 12 o’clock, noon. 52 at an upset price of £12 10s., and 53 at an upset price of £5.
Township of Fairfax, Tokomairiro
The remaining allotments (26) in the Township of Fairfax will be offered for sale by Public Auction in the Court House, Tokomairiro, on Thursday, the 16th day of January, 1868, at 12 o’clock noon. Upset price £5.
Township of Balclutha, Clutha Ferry
The remaining allotments (71) in the above township will be offered for sale, by public auction, at the Court House there, on Friday, the 17th day of January, 1868, at 12 o’clock, noon. Upset price £12 10s.
AUCTIONEERS’ LICENSES—A meeting will be held at the Government Office, Dunedin, at noon on Wednesday, 15th January, 1868, to consider the following applications for Auctioneers’ Licenses:
John Henry Cope, Clyde; his certificate is signed by J. D. Feraud, J.P., David Connochie, Benjamin Naylor, Martin Marshall, John Walker, and Warburton Dormer.
Henry France, Oamaru; certificate signed by E. A. Julius, John M’Lean, G. Broderick, J. Ritchie, George G. Russell, and B. Mudie.
Mathew Robertson Miller, Oamaru; certificate signed by the same parties who signed the application of H. France.
ROAD DISTRICT OF CAVERSHAM Altered and Extended, and the Road District of Anderson’s Bay Altered and Diminished, as proclaimed in last week’s Gazette.
Caversham Road District shall comprise all that area commencing at the North-west angle of Section 42, Lower Kaikorai Survey District, and bounded on the North by Sections 46, 58, 59, 63, 64, 65 and 99, Block VI, and Section 4, Block VII, Town District, and the Main South Road to Cemetery Reserve; thence by portion of Cemetery Reserve to Section 11, Block VII, Town District; thence on North by said Section 11, to the Main Road to Anderson’s Bay; thence on the East by said road to the North angle of Section 69, said Block VII; thence on the East by Sections 69 and 82, said Block VII, and that line continued to the Ocean Beach; thence on the South by the Ocean Beach to road line continued South from Section 32, Ocean Beach District; on the West by said road line and part Section 77, Ocean Beach District; North by Section 23; thence on West by said Section 23, 22 and 21, and a direct line from Northern angle of Section 21, Ocean Beach, to the South-west angle of Section 28, Town District.
