Registration District, under the “Cattle Ordinance 1864.”
The said District comprises all that area situate in the Province of Otago, bounded towards the north by the Province of Canterbury; towards the east by the “Eastern Cattle Registration District” and the Province of Southland; towards the south by the Ocean; and towards the west by the Ocean and the Province of Southland.
All official communications to be addressed to him, at his office, Treasury, Dunedin.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed
William Logie, Esquire,
to be Registrar of Brands for the “Eastern Cattle Registration District,” under the “Cattle Ordinance, 1864.”

WARRANT OF APPOINTMENT OF A CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION.
To all to whom these presents shall come greeting:
WHEREAS it is expedient that a Commission should be appointed to inquire into the present state of the Civil Service of the Province of Otago, with a view to the consolidation and re-organization of the various Departments of the said Service—Now therefore I, John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the said Province, do hereby nominate and appoint
Francis Dillon Bell, Esquire,
Charles Logie, Esquire,
Frederick Walker, Esquire,
John Bathgate, Esquire,
to be Commissioners to inquire into and report upon the existing state of the Civil Service of the said Province, and the best measures that can be taken for consolidating and re-organizing the same, without impairing the efficiency thereof.

a Special Meeting will be held at the Provincial Secretary’s Office, Dunedin, upon Thursday, the 9th day of February, 1865, at 2 o’clock p.m., to consider the application of Joseph Kilgour, of Dunstan.

II. If any person shall except as hereinafter provided in any part of the Province of Otago ignite in the open air any inflammable material for any purpose whatsoever within ten yards of any growing crops of corn or hay or of any stubble field or of any stack of corn or hay or carry any ignited material into any growing crops of corn or hay or into any stubble field or within ten yards of any stack of hay or corn or if any person except as hereinafter provided shall ignite any inflammable material in the open air within the said Province whereby the property of any other person shall be injured or destroyed or if any person shall within the said Province leave any fire which he may have lighted or caused to have been lighted in the open air before the same be thoroughly extin...
