WARRANT
Abolishing Polling Places, and Appointing other Polling Places for the Election of Members of the Provincial Council of Otago.
By His Honor John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by Warrant under the hand of His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, dated the twenty-sixth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, His Excellency, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor of New Zealand, by “The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” did delegate to me the said John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in the said Colony, the power of appointing and abolishing Polling Places for the Election of the Superintendent, or of Members of the Provincial Council, of the said Province;
Now know ye that I, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested, as aforesaid, do hereby Abolish all Polling Places for the Election of Members of the Provincial Council of the said Province heretofore made and not hereinafter mentioned, and do hereby appoint that the Polling Places for the several Electoral Districts, for the Election of Members of the Provincial Council, of the said Province, shall be the Places set under the name of each of the said Districts, as follows, that is to say, for—

Dunedin District—The Court House, Dunedin.

Port Chalmers District—The School-house at Port Chalmers.

Oamaru Town District—The School-house at Oamaru.

North Harbour District—The School-house, North East Valley; the School-house at Port Chalmers.

Peninsular District—The School-house at Anderson’s Bay; the School-house at North-East Harbour; the School-house at Portobello.
