WARRANT
Abolishing Polling Places and appointing other Polling Places for the Election of the Superintendent of Otago.
By his Honor John Larkins Cheese RICHARDSON, Esquire, Superintendent of this said Province.
WHEREAS by warrant under the hand of His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, dated the twenty-sixth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, His Excellency, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor of New Zealand by the “Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” did delegate to me, the said John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, the power of appointing and abolishing Polling Places for the Election of the Superintendent, or of Members of the Provincial Council of the said Province, to be held and exercised by me from time to time as I should think fit, so long as I should hold the said office of Superintendent;
And whereas it is expedient to abolish all Polling Places for the Election of the Superintendent of the said Province heretofore made, and not hereinafter mentioned, and to appoint the Polling Places hereinafter mentioned;
Now know ye, that I, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested as aforesaid, do hereby Abolish all Polling Places for the Election of the Superintendent of the Province of Otago heretofore made, and not hereinafter mentioned, and do hereby appoint the places after mentioned to be Polling Places for the Election of the Superintendent of the said Province, (that is to say)—
- The Court-house, Dunedin
- The School-house, at Port Chalmers
- The School-house, at Oamaru
- The School-house, at North-east Valley
- The School-house, at Anderson’s Bay
- The School-house, at Portobello
- The School-house, at Waikari
- The School-house, at Caversham
- The School-house, at Green Island
- The School-house, at East Taieri
