Approval of City Senior School Limited as Sponsor of City Senior School Establishment Notice

Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice:

  1. I hereby approve City Senior School Limited to be a sponsor of a Partnership School Kura Hourua.
  2. The name of the sponsor’s school is City Senior School.
  3. The sponsor’s school will be located in Central Auckland.
  4. City Senior School will be a co-educational senior secondary school.
  5. Education at City Senior School will be given for class levels 11 to 13.
  6. City Senior School is permitted to provide religious instruction to students.
  7. City Senior School will operate with the following aims, purposes and objectives:
    i. to produce students who have strong communication skills, physical and mental health, wellbeing, and self-management skills to fully engage in their own futures; and
    ii. through STEM-related educational outcomes, to produce science and technology-competent learners, and students who have the ability to choose STEM-related career pathways.
  8. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

Approval of Te Runanga o Tūranganui a Kiwa as Sponsor of Tūranga Tangata Rite Establishment Notice

Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice:

  1. I hereby approve Te Runanga o Tūranganui a Kiwa to be a sponsor of a Partnership School Kura Hourua.
  2. The name of the sponsor’s school is Tūranga Tangata Rite.
  3. The sponsor’s school will be located in Gisborne.
  4. Tūranga Tangata Rite will be a co-educational junior secondary school.
  5. Education at Tūranga Tangata Rite will be given for class levels 9 to 11.
  6. Tūranga Tangata Rite is permitted to provide religious instruction to students.
  7. Tūranga Tangata Rite will operate with the following aims, purposes and objectives:
    i. to be a unique, iwi driven and responsive, Years 9 to 11 School which will meet students’ preferred learning styles and will not be restricted to a traditional classroom setting;
    ii. to offer a physical, culturally safe learning environment with high quality teaching that revolves around students being linked to their iwi, hapū, marae and communities with a high focus on achievement;
    iii. effective governance that places students at the centre as an iwi in catering to the individual learning needs of students; and
    iv. to move students from a position of unrealised potential, to one where their potential, as active, empowered contributing members of society, secure in their own cultural identity, and with a wide variety of options for their future, is unlimited.
  8. This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
