Approval of The Pacific Peoples Advancement Trust as Sponsor of Pacific Advance Senior School Establishment Notice
Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice.
Notice

I hereby approve The Pacific Peoples Advancement Trust to be a sponsor of a partnership school kura hourua.
-
The name of the sponsor’s school is Pacific Advance Senior School.
-
The sponsor’s school will be located in South Auckland.
-
Pacific Advance Senior School will be a co-educational secondary school.
-
Education at Pacific Advance Senior School may be given for Years 11–13.

The establishment of Pacific Advance Senior School is to be phased in over three years. For the 2015 year, the school will enrol students in Year 11. From the 2017 year, Pacific Advance Senior School will enrol students in Years 11–13+. None of the class levels at Pacific Advance Senior School will be single-sex.

Pacific Advance Senior School will operate with the following aims, purposes and objectives:
- Enriched, vibrant, dynamic and successful Pasifika youth. Secure and confident in their education pathway, identities, languages and cultures.
- To be a vibrant and thriving school community, centred on the Pasifika culture, enrolling 250 largely Pasifika students from low-decile communities in Auckland.
- Have a proven record of wrapping education within an innovative, cultural perspective to successfully engage students, retain them at school, enable them to achieve in education and see them progress to higher education and meaningful careers.
- Be regarded as delivering high-quality education programmes (NCEA levels 1, 2 and 3) aligned to the New Zealand curriculum.
- Be successfully rooted within the Auckland Pasifika community, with strong support from parents/fanau, politicians and community groups to achieving top educational and life outcomes for its students.

This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

Approval of Manukau Urban Māori Authority as Sponsor of Te Kura Māori o Waatea Establishment Notice
Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice.

I hereby approve Manukau Urban Māori Authority to be a sponsor of a partnership school kura hourua.

The name of the sponsor’s school is Te Kura Māori o Waatea.
-
The sponsor’s school will be located in the Mangere.
-
Te Kura Māori o Waatea will be a co-educational contributing primary school.
-
Education at Te Kura Māori o Waatea may be given for Years 1–8.
-
The establishment of Te Kura Māori o Waatea is to be phased in over five years. For the 2015 year, the school will enrol students in Years 1–2. From the 2019 year, Te Kura Māori o Waatea will enrol students in Years 1–8. None of the class levels at Te Kura Māori o Waatea will be single-sex.

Te Kura Māori o Waatea will operate with the following aims, purposes and objectives:
- To provide an education that is grounded in kaupapa Māori principles.
- To provide an education within a bilingual setting in support of the revitalisation of te reo Māori.
- To incorporate Waldorf education practices where they align with kaupapa Māori principles and add to the educational outcomes and achievements of the kura.
- To provide a kura where children are highly valued and educated in an inclusive environment with the collaborative support and effort from parents, whānau, staff and community.
- To nurture and encourage every child to have developed a lifelong love of learning that is essential for acquiring the skills and content knowledge necessary to succeed at higher education.

Pursuant to section 158B of the Education Act 1989, I hereby give the following notice.

I hereby approve He Puna Marama Charitable Trust to be a sponsor of a partnership school kura hourua.

The name of the sponsor’s school is Te Kāpehu Whetū (Teina).

The sponsor’s school will be located in Whangarei.
-
Te Kāpehu Whetū (Teina) will be a co-educational contributing primary school.
-
Education at Te Kāpehu Whetū (Teina) may be given for Years 1–6.
-
For the 2015 year, Te Kāpehu Whetū (Teina) will enrol students in Years 1–6. None of the class levels at the school will be single-sex.
-
Te Kāpehu Whetū (Teina) will operate with the following aim, purpose and/or objectives:
(a) Kaupapa Māori philosophy that validates Māori culture and a Māori world view;
(b) innovative, akonga-centred education that provides progressive pedagogy, a constructivist approach and personalised learning;
(c) collaborative partnerships with whānau, local schools and tertiary institutions; and

This notice shall come into force the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
