Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978

Application to Film Marine Mammals

Pursuant to section 5(5) of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Manager, Aquatic and Reporting, notifies that she has received a permit application from

British Broadcasting Corporation

to film marine mammals underwater.

A copy of the application can be obtained from the Department of Conservation, Christchurch Shared Services Unit, Private Bag 4715, Christchurch Mail Centre, Christchurch 8140.

Any person wishing to make a submission on this application can do so by writing to the Manager, Aquatic and Reporting, c/o Gemma Sigglekow, Christchurch Shared Services Unit, Private Bag 4715, Christchurch Mail Centre, Christchurch 8140, within 28 days after publication of this notice.

Unless a person making a submission states to the contrary in the submission, that person will be deemed to give his/her consent to the release under the Official Information Act 1982 of all the information in the submission.

Reserves Act 1977

Appointment of a Committee

Under section 9 of the Reserves Act 1977 ("the Act"), I hereby make the following appointments to the Molesworth Steering Committee, which is an Advisory Committee for the purposes of the Act:

• advise the Minister of Conservation on the biodiversity, recreation and pastoral farming management of Molesworth;
• assist in the preparation of a draft Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for consideration and approval pursuant to section 40B of the Act; and
• advise the Minister of Conservation and Landcorp Farming Limited on any issues arising from the implementation of the terms of the Land Act 1948 lease and the management plan for those areas of Molesworth Station Recreation Reserve described in the Schedule.

Terms of Appointment

The term of Gerald Francis Soanes was extended to 9 October 2013.

The term of Hamish Roderick Ensor as chair is extended to 20 December 2013.

Phillip McKenzie is appointed for a term from 10 October 2013 to 4 October 2016.

Director, Conservation Services, North and Western South Island, Department of Conservation, is appointed to the Committee as an ex officio member.
